Even Jesus spoke in parables and without the Holy Spirit even the Apostles were lost to the meanings.

Over the centuries the Bible has been re-written many many times and it has been proven that the writers over these centuries have made mistakes.
We all make mistakes writing things down .. take a phone call, write down a phone number (wrong), spell someone's name wrong etc.
The Bible was written in charcoal, pen, typewriter, computer ... spelling mistakes occur all the time. There was no way of verifying the spelling until computers came in.
Have you ever played the game where 20 people stand in a line. The first person whispers something to the second, the second whispers to the third etc etc etc .. by the time the message reaches the 20th person, the message is completely wrong.
I don't think God wrote the Bible ... it started by saying "In the beginning" and God wasn't on earth. Somebody on earth started it. Don't forget some of them lived 800 years.

No. The reason being, is that the bible was interpereted through man, and would therefore have imperfection. Only a bible written by the hand of God directly could be taken as his literal word.

no because God didnt tell the authors every single word to write. He gave them the subject of what to write about...He would say write about how I made the Heavens and the Earth in 7 days...and dont include this....but include this.... maybe something like that...but He didnt dictate the words Himself. except for the ones He actually spoke. the fact that God didnt write the words Himself...its called Divine Inspiration...and just because humans wrote it doesnt make it fallible. ( able to be wrong ) God made sure there were no mistakes....its like He was
the editor...lol but yeah...He was. those authors could have been the people to make the most mistakes ever when they wrote something...but God picked them for some reason....and there are no mistakes in the Bible...God was careful about everything in the Bible...He made sure that there weren't any mistakes. the Bible is not to be taken literal....everything in the Bible is what God wanted in the Bible....but its not word for word from God Himself. its word for word from His human authors though. the belief that God dictated every word to the authors is called the
Dictation Theory i believe.

to make my answer simple, the answer is no, because the Bible is the inspired word of Him. =]

The bible has become an icon, people mistake the Bible for religion, meaning they worship its words instead of the God they follow, what people need to remember is that GOD DID NOT WRITE THE BIBLE, the Bible is a book of LESSONS to follow it is not to be taken literally, people find many of the restrictions of the bible by misinterpreting what it is really saying, if you are serious about reading the bible, look a little deeper at what the underlying message of it is instead of taking it all to heart

I don't think it does. I think the general vibe of the teachings and the morals are incredible but if you took it at face value, word for word women should be covered, you shouldn't wear polyester, slaves are okay etc. Each book is different and were written by different people. Personally, I attend church every week but I don't follow the bible to a tee.

I believe that the Bible is to be taken as the INSPIRED word of God. I do not believe that He dictated the words of the Bible to the various authors.

It's obvious that much of it is metaphorical, as is the case for much of Job, especially when God compares himself with creatures of the earth. At other times it's obviously word for word, as when the Bible tells of the genealogy from Adam to Jesus.

no, no, NO!! it is only a message to live a good and wholesome life, like all religions. the rest is all filler made up by men who couldnt figure anything out so they just winged it. sad thing is so many people died from this nonsense, when all it was trying to say was be good to each other and good will happen to you.

taking religious texts word for word is the reason why so much hatred and violence exists

Absolutely. It was inspired by the Holy Ghost, and this inspiration is absolutely incompatible with error.

That said, it is difficult to understand. Holy Writ was set down 2000 years ago, in a contemporary milieu, and therefore it's difficult for us to understand it in these modern times without falling into error.
