i got my right side of my lip pierced back in october and just had the left side done, about 3 weeks ago. and the pain obviously varies from person to person and what people forget the piercer!!! but basically i always say, it feels like a needle going through your flesh, and to me, that "doesn't" hurt. you feel a slight pinch pain and its over. it healed in about 4 weeks and then had no problem. but as i say differs from person to person but also differs in yourself. for instance, my first lip piercing, when pierced bled a lot!! and after once or twice too and didnt swell at all. my second one, not a drop of blood came out but it swell a hell of a lot for several days. seriously what you do before you get your lip pierced and after counts a lot. eat a meal before getting it pierced, and have a cold drink or be ready to pop home and ice up your lip to reduce swelling chance.
and lastly dont listen to daft comments, saying it can get ripped out is silly. people dont purposely go to rip your piercing out, its something a parent would tell you =] sports and other activites are a risk, but for them just wear a labret. that way nothing is "hanging out" and going to get caught.
hope ive helped! ?
and im going to get my lip pierced again in about a month! :D

I just got my lip pierced a month ago and it's already healed. I have a small stud that the back detaches from the front with a little bit of pressure so if anything the back would pop off the stud so my lip wouldn't rip. I think you should really think about this, it is semi-permanent. I didn't think it hurt too bad, but i have 13 other piercings, but of course there is always going to be pain when a needle is shoved through the skin.

Under normal living situations, it shouldn't get ripped out. If you are active in sports, during games, wear a retainer. No normal, sane person will just yank on the jewelry, trust me.
As far as getting it done, if you want it, go for it. Just be sure to go to a reputable piercer and be sure you take care of your piercing.
I can't tell you how bad its going to hurt, but as with all piercings you will feel at least a little something. Its done and over with quickly, so to me the piercing itself isn't bad. What is bad is the fact your lip will be swollen for a bit and it can get irritating until that goes down.
Healing time is about 8-12 weeks, really not that bad and as long as you keep it clean it won't cause problems.
What you should do is pretty much what you want. Its your body and your choice. If you want it, go do it. Just don't take harsh rude comments to heart; haters suck.

Lip piercings are so cool. My friend got his lip pierced (he actually got snake bite which is 2 piercings on your lip.) and he worried about getting it yanked out too. Well he's had it for almost a year now and it hasn't been riped out. I couldn't answer how much it hurts because i still havn't gotten my lip done yet (im trying to build up my stength because i've heard it hurts a lot.) I think you should totally get it, that would be so awesome.

I got mine done about 9 months ago, and I remember it clearly. It hurt, but not that badly at all. You don't really have to worry about getting it ripped out unless you get in super nasty girl fights all the time. If you're still worried about that, wear a stud instead of a ring. It should heal within a few weeks as long as you take care of it correctly (rinse out your mouth with saline solution twice a day, make sure you brush your teeth, junk like that). My opinion: do it. It's totally worth it.

Getting your lip pierced is one of the most painful piercings you can get besides the back of your neck. Some people heal faster than others so I guess if you can deal with some pain for a week or two then go for it. Otherwise piercings like that are not for you.

lip piercings don't hurt at all!
mine were the least painful of all my piercings, and pretty much everyone says the same.
it heals depending on your body, how well you take care of them, etc. one of mine healed up right away, and the other took a lot longer.
just make sure to go to a reliable piercer (do your research) and listen to all of his instructions. aftercare is soo important.
and to all those people who say lip piercings are unattractive or whatever, i'm been asked out sooo many more times since i've gotten mine, so go for it, and enjoy the copious amounts of attention you get afterwards:)

I personally don't care for lip piercings. I don't find them attractive at all. Think about these things: What happens if you want to kiss someone? What happens if you happen to get a cold sore (ouch!)? Some employers won't hire people with body piercings either no matter how qualified they are for the job.

I hate to say it but you sound a little wimpy.
I don't like the idea of body piercing but I've had parts of my body pierced accidentally and it hurts but you get over it.

Lip Piercing is a BIG mistake!!! You don't know what it could do to your lip. It could cut all your skin on your lip or an infection might occur. My cousin has a lip infection and swollen lips from lip piercing. Hope you take my advice.
