I have a small steam room in my house and it helps drain my nose and ears when i have a cold. Also, it helps when my throat is sore. However, should i worry about how much i sweat (they say you have to keep hydrated), even if i drink a lot of water when i am in there?

So, I looked up natural treatments for colds on askdrsears.com, and here's what I found:

Steam cleaning. Give your child steam, steam, and more steam. For infants and young children, turn the bathroom into a steam room with the door closed and the shower on full hot. Sit in there for 10 or 15 minutes. For older children, use a facial steamer or pot of hot water (carefully!). The steam will help loosen the nose and chest congestion, and help your child cough it up or blow it out. Do this steam cleaning every morning and before bed, as well as during the day if possible.

Good luck with your cold!

Yes it's OKay because the steam will clear your sinuses and you will sweat your cold off and your body will not get dehydrated that quick long as you keep plenty of fluids afterward you will be ok

I think that that is a great idea to use it if it brings relief to your symptoms.
If you feel worse after you do, then of course you should stop but if you feel fine and it helps you to feel better, you should definitely continue...it might even help your cold leave more quickly
