Sure it is. In fact, it kind of works the other way around. Most women who act like that do it because they have major intimacy issues. They have a lot of meaningless hook-ups so that they won't have to get close to anybody and be vulnerable, but they can still have sex.
Basically your friend is acting like a guy, lol, and yes it's possible, I see it all the time. A lot of times girls like this drink a lot too, then they can let their inhibitions down easily, and at the same time keep the encounters even more meaningless.
I'm not trying to put down anybody, I'm just saying it's a type. If there's other reasons that women do what you're talking about, I just haven't seen them yet.

I'm curious how old your friend is. I think when we are young, we think that we can have casual sex and not let it get to us emotionally, however, I find that my friends and I were only able to do this when it was a 1 night stand. The more exposure you have to a person the more attached you become.
The age thing comes into play because in a person's late teens/early twenties, we are searching for our place in the world and the identity that we have in it. Even though it is a double standard, women who have a lot of sexual partners are stigmatized, and that can effect a person's self-esteem.
I think that even when a person says they are not effected by their promiscuity, they are; the more a person sleeps around, the more they feel like that is the only thing they have to offer- and that's not healthy. I hope that your friend finds a more healthy way to find fufillment and acceptance from men.

Yes, it's possible...I imagine it's what prostitutes do.
Why would your friend want to have a lot of sexual partners but block her feelings? It sounds to me like she needs counseling...you might want to suggest she get some help.

No. I think she's playing with fire. She is empty inside and someonehas obviously hurt her and she is trying to fill up that hole by having sex with a bunch of people. She is going to end up with something that she will regret, STD (sexually transmitted disease) or a pregnancy.

i imagine that you need to confront the challenge head on. element out on your significant different that you hit upon it uncomfortable that he has had alot of companions & yal run into them alot and it some what bothers you.
