I love how people are altering the bible these days. Right now, people are giving explanations that are not based on anything but guesses. They have no evidence (either from the bible or from archeology) to back up the idea that god created a bunch of people and not just two. One day, these alterations might be included in the bible and regarded as scripture. That might give you some insight into how the bible was written.

The Bible bounces around a bit here, one history mentioning the Cain and Able incident , and one not. Genesis 5 starts out with the "history" of Adam saying: An Adam lived on for 130 years (after being created), and then became father to a son in his likeness and called his name Seth. And the days of Adam after fathering Seth came to be nine hundred and thirty years, and then he died. And then Genesis continues with the Genealogy. From this, we could conclude, that Adam had many other children besides Cain and Able, and probably long before, ( being that Adam lived a hundred and thirty years after being cast out of the garden. A hundred and thirty years is a long time NOT to have other children, especially given the commandment to "be fruitful, and become many") while earlier other children went on to multiply and form towns, cities, and such, where Cain was able to find a wife. This could indicate a possible explanation. But like so many things in the Bible, it would sure be easier if more information was given about certain events.

Since Adam lived several hundred years, having lots of children was not a problem. The Genesis account does not tell us about the order of the births nor does it tell us how old they were. By having many children it is certainly possible that there were many women around. This would mean that Cain married either a sister or a niece or some other relation. Of course at this point, the question of inbreeding is raised. But it is not a problem early on in the human race because the genetic line was so pure. Therefore, the prohibition against incest was not proclaimed until much much later (Lev. 18:6-18).

This has been answered a million times. The story was told by word of mouth for several thousand years. Until Mosses wrote it for humans 3,500 years after the fact.
So when you think about the circumstances, they lived 900 and some years. They were perfect and took a wife at 13 years old.
women were never mentioned but some men had multiple wives.
Leading us to believe there were lots of women born and not recorded. Even other men but they were not not worthy enough to be remembered. In a hundred years you could have a bunch of people from 2 people having a baby every year. Then their kids had kids. by the time Cain like 100 or so years old there's gobs of people running around. But like the news today.
If an alien space ship was to read our news he would think Anna Nichole smith was the only women down here.
And that all women were promiscuous.

At Genesis 4:1, 2 we read: “In time [Eve] gave birth to Cain and said: ‘I have produced a man with the aid of Jehovah.’ Later she again gave birth, to his brother Abel.” As is well known, Cain killed Abel; but after that, we read that Cain had a wife and children. (Genesis 4:17) If Adam and Eve had only two sons, where did Cain find his wife?
The solution lies in the fact that Adam and Eve had more than two children. According to the context, they had a large family. At Genesis 5:3 we read that Adam became father to another son named Seth and then, in the following verse, we read: “He became father to sons and daughters.” (Genesis 5:4) So Cain could have married one of his sisters or even one of his nieces. At that early stage of human history, when mankind was so close to perfection, such a marriage evidently did not pose the risks for the children of the union that it would today.

Very good question.
Cain dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden. (Gen. 4:16)
Cain "knew" his wife and Enoch was born. Cain built up a city and named it Enoch after his son. (Gen 4:17)
The town, Enoch, was built by Cain. Cain's wife came from one of Adam's daughters.(Gen 5:4) Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters (They lived over 900 years!). Several years obviously passed before Cain found his wife. His wife came from one of his father's daughters. This is obviously incest, but DNA was not corrupted to the point that it was in the time of Moses, when such things were banned.
Thanks for the question and continue seeking God.

But it says in Genesis 5: 4 that Adam had other sons and daughters.
This is related after the verse you reference. Most things in the Bible are laid out in the order they occurred, but not all.
I don't understand what you're referring to when you say that Cain went "to town." Perhaps you are referring to the town he built in Gen. 4:17 that he named after his son Henoch?
As to the identity of Cain's wife: she was a daughter of Adam and Cain's own sister. Ordinarily, we are strictly forbidden by both natural and divine law from such unions, but God made a dispensation with such marriages at the beginning of the world, as mankind could not otherwise be propagated. He would do so again after the Flood, else the lines of Sem, Ham, and Japeth could not be propagated.

Adam and Eve had daughter's that were not mentioned. Cain took one of his sisters and made her his wife. This was acceptable in those days because there was so few people on the earth. In order to fill the earth with people as commanded they would take wives for themselves from their sisters.

Gen 3:16 to the woman he said: I shall greatly increase the pain of your pregnancy; in birth pangs you will bring forth children,...
It says she will bring forth children.
Adam and Eve had many children that the Bible do not mention. (it is not of importance)
so, Yes Cain did marry is sister ( an anonymous daughter of Adam and Eve)
Gen 5:4" And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Mean while he became father to sons and daughters."
