First, go to a jewellers, and make sure they tighten up the prongs to make sure it's safe. Wear it on your right hand, or on a chain around your neck.
My dad died the same year, and I got married two years later, so I know it's hard to not have your dad there. Make sure you mention him when you give your thank you talk at the reception.

To keep the ring safe I wouldn't wear it in any form at the wedding. I would keep it safely in my jewelry box.
There are lots of things you can do to honor/remember your dad at your wedding. Definitely talk to your officiant, he or she will probably have some ideas to share.
You could light a candle during the ceremony, you could say a few words, you could have the officiant say a few words for you. You could have something else there that reminds you of your dad or share a memory of you and your dad. Is there a book that he always read to you? or did he have a favorite song or movie or anything like that?
Whatever you do, I'm sure it will come from the heart and will be beautiful.

If the ring is as fragile and of such great sentimental value as you say, I would STRONGLY recommend against wearing it or even bringing it to the wedding. If you put it on a table, around your bouquet, pin it to your dress or anything, you could risk losing it forever.
I would suggest having a memorial candle at the reception, with a nice framed photo of your dad next to it, on a table off to the side. You could also make a comment on your programs saying something like, "In loving memory of my dear father, John Smith."
Good luck!

I can think of two options right away: 1) put the ring on a gold chain and wear it around your neck or 2) have a candle or single rose set out in memory of your father and tie the right to it with ribbon, include with it a short note indicating it is in memory of your father.

Sorry on your loss. I`m getting married in July and characteristic an same issue. My wonderful fella lost his mom over 2 many years in the past and he nonetheless feels the loss. we are fortunate that on her grave is a rose bush. The day before the marriage we are able to do the 4 hour round holiday to carry jointly some roses and some folliage from the rose bush and our florist has agreed to make his button hollow from those. we've also concept about him carrying a photo of his mom in his interior jacket pocket which will be close to his heart in the course of the day. that way we both understand she will manage to be with us and watching over us on the day. After the marriage we are able to get the button hollow freeze dried and framed as a souvenir. I`m particular she will manage to also be reported contained in the speeches. have you ever seen writing a poem to ascertain on the marriage and then having a small ceremony on the wateredge and throwing some flora or your bouquet into the water. reliable luck and excellent needs on your day.

If you are afraid of loosing the ring wear it on a necklace . What I did to remember my father was a lit candle and a note stating that The lit candle was in loving memory of my father who had passed away.

I would be wary about having that ring at your wedding. Maybe you should get a photo of your father and where it in a locket.
If you must wear it, I would wear it around a chain or use it in the centerpiece at your table.

You can loop a ribbon through it and tie it around your bouquet.

you could put it in a Velvet pouch and the tuck it into your dress some how, or you could put it on a necklace as a charm.
