I'm not shopping for a sniper barrel per say, just a longer barrel than the stock barrel.

It's a Tippmann 98 Custom.

Don't go over 14". 16" maximum. The extra barrel length does nothing for the paint except increase risk of barrel breaks due to increased friction.

It depends on how you play realy asto what is "excessive" a tight playfeild like a urban combat senario or small speedball court might want a 6"!! barrel for manuverabillity. A "back line" player may want a16" barrel or even larger for snipeing. I find that with my TIPPMANN A-5 a 14" flatline barrel is the best deal going it gives the ball backspin allowing longer shots if the gun is turned sideways it will even go arround corners with a lil practice! PLUS! because the barrel is purposely oversized to allow the spinning to take place you can use dirt cheap paint with NO breakageor difference in acuracy from ball to ball.
If you how ever are just looking @ an avarage barrel length and don't own a TIPPMANN then I would suggest abot 16"-18" would not be too "excessive" WELL ITS A TIPPMANN!!!!!!!!! well why didnt you say so! FLAT LINE ALL THE WAY!!! although on the 98's it is harder to clean the barrel BUT! with a jerk through it is not tooo bad PLUS they rarely break paint.atleast not enough to hinder them much. Another option is the thunder stick. barrell package with this option you can customize length and O.D. to get the best fit for your paint. as well as length. I have not used this barrell setup though and think it may be too pricey. one more thing....www.tippmannpneumatics.com that should get you the flatline and some other Tippman model98/98 custom compattable barrels

14 for speedball. 16 for woodsball.

i have a tippmann with a 16" smartparts progressive barrel. Ive shot over 10,000 paintballs through the barrel so far. ***HAD no more than 10 breaks*** amazing. it costs 45 bucks. buy it.
