actually ure dog can go everywhere with you! they have big enough bags for them to fit into, and even puppy strollers which are sold at pet co and pet smart! :)

im not too sure about restaurants though, but your dog will eventually grow out of that phase, your dog is still a puppy, and i have two pug pups who use to be the same way, now that they are 9 months, they are pretty much use to me leaving and coming in at a certain time:)

The size of the dog isn't really the question. Only disability-assistance animals are permitted to enter all stores. Otherwise it is at the owner's discretion and most places don't want dogs for obvious reasons. She needs to develop some independence anyways though. Just try to make it relaxing in your home. Leave a light on if you will be out after dark or consider leaving some soft music playing in the background--the voices may be comforting to her. Many dogs have a favorite person but encourage your other family members to interact with the dog as well. The can toss toys for her to retrieve, give her treats or even just talk to her. If she is too lonely consider getting another pet so she won't be alone.

Yeah, you need to be a strong mommy. You need her to roam around the house without holding her so much too... especially at this age. They are a breed of dog that attaches to one person anyway so you don't have to work at it.

I think you would do better leaving her in the car. But don't take her with you when it is too hot out no matter how much you plan on not leaving her in the car for long, or how far the windows are rolled down.

BTW, standing by the door waiting is because she's a stupid baby... when they get older they will realize you will come back. IOW, they will stand there for a while then go on with their general activities.

You probably know this but you picked a dog that will be very attached to you.

Dogs are not allowed in stores for good reasons.

If you go on treating her like this, she will be such a neurotic handful, that you won't be able to do a thing with her. Do as advised, start training her right now to be a happy well adjusted dog, who knows you will come back.

No the majority of stores do not allow animals unless they are service animals, train her to go into a pet carrier while you are with her give her soft animal toys to cuddle up to, she may "go to her box" when you have to go. With food near, and her cuddle toy, she should do fine. You need to get her accustomed to being handled by other members of your family or you are going to have major problems when she is an adult.

I agree that you need to do some serious dog training. Most stores don't allow pets (obviously, there are exceptions) regardless of size unless they are seeing eye dogs or something. The Dog Whisperer has many books and dvd's out. He might be able to help you.

You are creating a neurotic dog. I suggest you stop treating her that way or she will be fearful for life. It's not healthy. She needs to be able to separate. If she continues on this path, her fears will increase and it won't only be separation anxiety.

I go to the store with my doggies usually I have a purse carrier so that people don't relize that I have the dogs just in case they are going to react to it. Hercules and Maisy love to visit the stores and if I am asked to leave well I don't go back to that store. Chi's are very particular with their owners! I don't leave my babies alone unless I am at work and then I would take them if I could!

leave it home, pets become a liability when you take them out in public. besides, do you know how many people have pet allergies these days? what if the dog was to go loose and run towards a small child or a disabled person and then nibble on their foot? who knows what kind of damage could be done. tisk tisk.
