If you're fat, you should get rid of your weak chin by losing weight, not by growing some stupid goatee that won't hide your weak chin anyway.

I am not fat and I have a goatee. I guess its the same reason women dye their hair blond.
Some women like goatees.

Not everyone who grows facial hair of any kind is trying to hide something. Some guys do it for looks. Some guys do it cause their girlfriend/wife likes it. But I bet if you asked most of them, they probably grew facial hair out of laziness (a.k.a. not shaving) and just decided to keep it. That's how come my husband has a beard and mustache. I like it and he is not fat.

maybe they're more likely to cut themselves when shaving due to the double chin..so they let some facial hair grow instead
