To truly be for or against the current war in Iraq, you need to understand the history of the region and why they have their views on the United States (regardless of whether or not you agree with their views -- which I don't).

I supported us going after the Taliban. That was a righteous move on our part since there was solid evidence of their being part of 9/11 and under no circumstances should we sit back and let that happen.

However, going into Iraq with the arguement of giving them a chance at not only democracy but peace as well is just retarded because we are fighting people who will fight to the death for what they believe. In order for there to be peace in the Middle East the views of those involved in terrorism would have to be changed. And that's never going to happen. We have a better shot at completely stamping out racism in this country than we do of giving into the demands of the terrorists.

People do not like war for any reasons. They either have never been in that situation or they want the old life style they had. People forgot the real reason we are their. 9/11 is forgotten to them. They did not have any friends or relatives die in it. They are afraid to fight for their country. They live in a dream world where ever one is friendly and nice to each other. But let some one offend them and off to court they go to get every thing from them. They are hypocrite's and double standard people with you fight and i will protest this . Yet you better make sure that I am kept safe and out of harms way, that your job not mine. Then our governments is trying to fight a war where they tie down the solider ability to win and blame it on them. They want to make sure their pockets are lined first and then tax the hell out of every one else. Soldiers do a job and it is not a pretty one. They have to kill in order to survive and keep their comrades save. The middle east is nothing but a bunch of craze religious fanatics that want to rule ever one, including their own neighbors. They come here for school because here they can have a better education. They want to know our land and plan for the day they will attack us in force, or by terrorist acts all over this country.

Sorry guy, but that link is just crazy fear mongering. It is obvious that any country in the middle east is sovereign, and should not be attacked. That is why the UN was created--to stop these illegal acts that our country is involved in. Sadly, it seems to have lost its teeth.
Tony Blair gave a speech awhile ago that sounded exactly like the one the President of Iran gave--he said that the world is a more dangerous place, that nuclear weapons provided a deterrent, etc etc, the usual rhetoric. But if I were Iran, I'd be a lot more worried than England---for obvious reasons!
The media tries to make us think that we are under threat. It is not true. Your question is ultimately a silly one. A better one would be--why do people support the invasion of a country that did absolutely no harm to those countries that attacked it? (PS the answer to this one may involve the words 'oil' and 'politics')

I'm against all wars, anything that have to do with violence but we are in war and we have to win in Iraq or any other place in the world that our warriors are fighting in order to keep our Nation and families free from these terrorists. When are we going to understand that.
