The best way to train your puppy not to go to the restroom in your house is to put them in a pet porter while you are not at home and as soon as you get home take the puppy directly outside. When the puppy finally goes to the restroom praise him or her by saying good girl or good boy and sometimes give them a treat as a reward. The other thing you need to do is when you are home you need to take the puppy outside every single hour to use the restroom. This might get old to you but you will see fast results. Do not be too harsh on the puppy as of right now the poor thing is still a baby and it's bladder needs to fully develop before you are to harsh on it. In all do time the puppy will learn what is expected of him or her. Just be patient.

I have thumbed up some good answers for you and thumbed down some bad. Never rub a puppies nose in pee or poop. ever. And there is no need to crate train. second turn in who ever gave you the pup because it is illegal to seperate a pup from its mother before 8 weeks. mine don't go until 12 weeks. at 6 weeks that pup should not be out in the cold. Deal with it. I would not even try potty training in the cold with a small pup. just clean up the mess. like children the pup will start to puppy train when it is time .Also go get some mother milk to feed the puppy. It should still be getting this. If getting powdered make sure you smell the can to make sure it is not sour before buying it. atleast 2 more weeks of milk.

I got my puppy when she was about 8 weeks.. it was hard for me too.. What you can do is:
Take him out first thing in the morning and always have the training pad aroung his bed at night.
Take him outsite about 20 minutes after he eats or drink, if he doesn't, once you are back in the house put him in the create for 10 minutes and take him outside again, dog usually don't go to the bathroom where they sleep.Once he goes outsite praise him A LOT and give him treat. My dog knows now everytime she goes to the bathroom outside she gets a treat.I had a hard time with mine, now she's 5 months and everytime she needs to go outsite she whines by the door...
Also you can go to WWW.PETVIDEO.COM... They have some good advice, they tell you how to deal with..
He's too little yet, but it's great you want to train him early.
GOOD LUCK!!!

ok you can't just stand outside all day. you need to take him for walks, get him moving and active.
when we first get a dog we take him outside every half hour or so....walk around and let him sniff and play. cold or not. if it is that cold and he is that small then get him a doggie coat.
if he has a 'poo' in the house, pick it up, take him and the poo outside ..................... put the poo on the ground in the area you would like to train him to use....show it to him, tell him good dog.....lots of compliments, hugs, 'good puppy for pooping outside', and a bit of a walk and then back inside. i don't like rubbing their noses in their messes as some people and books suggest simply because i don't have the stomach to clean the 'mess' off his little face. i have found by picking up the poo and taking it and him outside and doing the same as mentioned above every single time he messes, he will get the idea and train.
dogs don't like to 'mess' in their home, so get him outside and he will get the hang of it.
you have to be consistent, don't give up, with patience and constantly taking him out you will get him trained.

Be patient and consistent. Housebreaking puppies requires both of these skills. They need routines just like babies. Keep it on the same schedule so it can get used to what it needs to do next. Good luck. Also, a little treat for going potty outside may help.

ok here is my 2 cents on house trainning
5 things
1. schedule
take your pup out first thing in the morning
bring him in and feed him
take him out again right after he eats
and every 2 hours until he is 10 weeeks
then move to 3 to 4 hours
feed your dog after he comes in from first morning potty
after he walks away from food remove it and water
you can give him the rest every 4 hours but stop water at 7pm
2. don't let the pup have full run of house until 2 years of age
i kennel my little man up when i'm gone or i have things to do
when he is out i watch for sniffing signs and circling then i grab him and go out
3. remove any other pet odors from house from other pets to prevent marking
4. last time to go out at night should be 11 pm
5 praise him for good pottying out side
never scold him if he makes a mistake inside after the fact because he won't understand
so to get to the point here
if you take him out and he won't potty put him in his kennel for 20 mins or on a lead to where you can get a hold of him fast if he needs to go out
never let him loose in the house if he doesn't use it outside always confine him for 10 to 20 mins then try again
after he does go
he then can be trusted but only within your site and reach
a trick is to let him drag his lead through the room so if he looks like he is about to go
grab the lead and say outside
then again praise him softly while he is doing the right thing
hugs hope i helped a lil

he was to young to be taken away from his mother and was probably still not ready to go on his own. puppies are cleaned by their mom with her tongue, this makes them go to the bathroom. i know it sounds gross but it might help if after he is done eating get a warm wet cloth and either take him outside or over the puppy pad and clean his bottom. this will make him go to the bathroom. then once he is a little older it will be easier to housebreak him. i had to do this with some puppies we had that the mother wasn't taking care of them and it worked very well.

Usually puppys need to go bathroom about 20 minutes after eating, take it outside during this time, when it goes natually praise it, and pet it, it will in time make the connection that it should do this all the time. All dogs love praise

Puppies will always need to go potty after they
1.) wake up from a nap
2.) eat
3.) right before they go to bed.
First, make sure that you are staying outside long enough to give your puppY an opportunity to go to the bathroom. Take him/ her out right after they wake up, right after they eat and before you put him/ her to bed.
6 weeks is young, I would take her out every 30 minutes to begin and STAY with him/ her until he/ she goes. Let her know this is business. It's not play time, not nap time. Puppies are used to their mama dogs telling them what to do all the time.
I also suggest watching the dog whisperer, or reading his book "Cesar's Way." It will definitely get you off on the right foot.

Your puppy is only a baby...it'll take a while for him/her to figure out why you're outside. Go outside when your puppy needs to go (after eating, a long nap), and wait until they go. When they do their business...praise them...A LOT! Keep doing that and eventually they'll figure it out. It took our puppy a while to understand, but after a few times, she got it quite quickly. Also, make sure you make your puppy go on a schedule. When Charlotte was that young, we used to go outside with her every 2 hours to ensure she wouldn't go in the house. Good luck!
