id recommend three things..

first, take him out as soon as possible after he eats or drinks.. and dont allow him to just eat and drink when he wants to.. set a time to feed him and then watch him eat and take him outside

second, when you go outside, if he does not go right away, play with him and get him to run around a bit.. that usually gets them to go

and finally, as soon as he does go outside give him a lot of attention, and he should quickly learn to go outside

We potty trained by using a crate. It seems mean, but was a fast, and easy way for our pupplies to learn.

1. Get a crate that either has a movable center barrier, or get a crate that only allows enough room for the dog to walk in, turn around and lie down. Don't make the crate too big. Don't put a lot of extra padding in it.
2. Crate the puppy when you are not home. Walk the puppy immediately after she leaves the crate. Dogs don't like to pee/poop where they sleep, so they will hold it. You'll have to let them out every 4 hours or so until their bladders develop more.
3. When you are home, the puppy should be taken out 15 min after eating or drinking.
4. DON'T use newspaper as a spot for puppy to go inside. This just tells the puppy that its okay to go inside.

I agree with Law, start using Puppy Pads. There is this one I use to use that has a grass smell to it as well as an attractant to get the puppy to eliminate on it. This was very helpful in getting him to go outside, he was able to associate the 2 smells. Not coming down on you, but 6 weeks is a little bit too young for the pup to be away from mom and siblings. Also a little young to be outside. You may want to do the potty pads for a few weeks, get all of his shots and then try to take him outside. I didn't have the heart to do crate training but I've heard GREAT reviews on using this method. So that may be a suggestion as well. Good luck!

I would suggest starting off using puppy pads, and there is this spray you can buy, it's called puppy training aid.... start out using those, get the puppy used to them, then begin to move it closer to the door, then outside, then no pad, and the puppy will begin to associate going outside with going to the bathroom. Good luck

My God! Were you potty trained at 6 weeks??! A six week old pup should still be with its Mom! Its going to take months of patience and consistency to train a puppy...I hope you have that patience..it sounds like you don't. Poor puppy....

You must begin crate training. Leave him in the crate when you are not paying attention, otherwise as soon as you take him out, take him outside immediately so that he associates going to the bathroom outside.

I agree with the crate training suggestion.

Also your pup is a bit too young to be away from mom and litter. 8 weeks is usually the minimum. So your are expecting too much too soon.
