SOS! The doctor said I have an ear infection and I'm on antibiotics...
BUT MY EAR IS STILL KILLING ME!

Ok, it's true I got them yesterday, but my ear is unbearable!

Does anyone have any practical pain-killer methods that aren't medicine?

I tried the heat pad, but that didn't help. It was just really... hot.

Help my poor little ear!

you can take tylenol or motrin or something like that with them. If not sure then call the pharmacist or the doc. They can both tell you what you can take. Don't put off calling. It's not a big deal. The biggest deal is the pain. In a little more than 24 hours you should start feeling better. But call right away. No need to hurt. Hope you feel better.

Tell you what worked for me. Get a sock fill it with table salt enough to make a small ball, heat it up in a pot until hot, put another sock over top and sleep on it when you go to bed. The combination of the salt and the heat will draw the infection out of the ear and guess what no infection no pain. Keep doing this until better. You almost had the right idea, you were just missing the salt.

i went through this, the antibiotics were for an inner ear infection, but it turned out i had an outer ear infection for which the antibiotics did nothing. i had to go to the emergency room and they gave me 2 drops to take one to numb the ear and the other had steroids in it i dont remember its purpose.
this mexican guy at my job told me to do this and it provided minimal relief, it was the only thing that worked even if only a little
take a whole sheet if newspaper and roll it into a cone
put the small end of it in ur ear and light the other end on fire
let the smoke go in ur ear for a moment then drop it cause it burns fast
do it outside, have somebody help u but make sure u dont have an outer ear infection, because i suffered on those antibiotics for 2 weeks waiting for them to work and the pain got worse and worse by the time i went to the emergency room i hadnt slept in 48 hrs

Drinking hot Tea can help for some kinds of ear pain. It's like a hotpad on the inside of your head. On the bright side, if you've got the right antibiotics, you'll feel a lot better in just a few days.

There is a triple antibiotic ear drops which contains some type of mild steroid (hydrocortisone) that helps a LOT - I have them and are made by Baush & Lomb!
Also Auralgan ear drops help and are sold OTC.

Tell your parents or call your doctor immediately. Get ear infections a lot and they are unbearable, believe me if you don't do some right now it will get worse.
