I mean mainly because of weather, not for money. I guess the best are June, July or August, but I don't know if it'd be too hot. At first I'll be 3 weeks through England, Edimbourgh and Glasgow.

Thanks.

Midsummer is June 21st: the days are very long at this time, especially in Scotland. It doesn't get dark till after 10pm, so you get the most of each day. Also schools don't break up till late July, so you avoid the peak season prices (late July & all of August) and all the families with kids.

If visiting Edinburgh, remember end of July beginning of august is the Edinburgh festival, A great event, people travel from all over the world to attend
if you need accommodation book now, some book hotels and guest houses for this period over a year in advance to insure a place to stay for the festival. the later you book the further out you would need to stay, though the cheaper rooms are found there

I'd recommend September. The weather is more predictable, less tourists, and autumn is on it's way, meaning the countryside will be changing colour and spectacular.
