I currently have 5 cartilage piercings. I really want my tragus pierced but I am afraid of the pain. I also pierced my first and seconds holes in my lobes myslef. Could anyone tell me how bad it hurts to get your tragus pierced? I dont care about the pain afterwards. just when you are getting it done.
Thank you so much!

A friend owns/operates a piercing parlor. He always says, if someone says that it didn't hurt, "We'll get you next time."
But I'm not sure that he'd council someone to do that to themselves.

The pain caused by the piercing and the application of its jewelry varies widely from person to person. The needle is driven through very little skin and thicker cartilage than that found in the helix (another common piercing site), but less than that of the conch. Although the tragus itself has no nerve endings, some piercees describe the procedure as feeling like a "punch in the head." The application of the piercee's chosen jewelry can amplify the pain due to the enclosed space in which the piercer works. Typical tragus piercings use a 16g captive bead ring, though stretching to larger gauge jewelry is not unheard of. Bleeding is typically low when the tragus is pierced due mostly to the lack of flesh on the tragus, but can sometimes bleed for an hour or so, depending on the person. An easy solution for this is to wipe it with a tissue or paper towel, never a fabric towel, as they contain high levels of bacteria which can affect the healing process of the piercing. Use a disposable tissue when drying off after a shower, and while showering, it is recommended to use a Baby Wash to clean any excess discharge built up on the skin or piercing. Never pick or touch any "crusties" developed around the piercing, as this can slow the healing process and irritate the ear.

The pain is really not that bad. I have both of mine done. The needle will have to go through a bit slow because of how hard the cartilage is there. But other than that it is smooth sailing.
Although like any cartilage piercing it does take a while to heal and it gets irritated easily.

Something to keep in mind though:::
Ear bud head phones may cause a few problems for you :)

Well, everyone feels pain differently so no one can tell you how bad it will hurt you. People can only speak for themselves, but using their tolerance to pain won't help you too much.

To me, it wasn't that bad. Piercings, when done by a skilled professional are over with very quickly. So in my opinion its really not that bad at all.

Just go to a reputable piercer, take deep breaths and try your best to relax. You'll be fine, and take care of your piercing.

I in basic terms have been given mine carried out the day previous to this, after an exceptionally long term thinking approximately it. I genuinely have 3 piercings besides my ear lobes (an commercial on my genuine ear and my left nostril, and now my tragus). To be thoroughly hassle-free, i assumed that it grew to become into the least painful of those 3 piercings. My nostril definately injury the main, and my commercial injury extra in the process the therapeutic technique. i've got no discomfort in any respect now, and that is been approximately 30 hours. that is in user-friendly terms slightly itchy, like maximum new piercings. i might extraordinarily advise getting it carried out, yet as you in all probability do no longer decide to hearken to, the discomfort particularly varies from guy or woman to guy or woman. I genuinely have heard that it particularly is the main painful piercing you may get, and that i did no longer sense that way in any respect to me. wish this enables!

No it does not hurt. Ive had mine for about a year. Its a very small pain when the pierce it and very little pain afterwards and it heals pretty fast. I love mine and want to get my other ear done. Go for it!

I have the tragus done...it was so painless! I really thought it would hurt where it's such a hard piece of cartilage, but I barely felt a thing. You'll be surprised how easy it is.

i have both of my traguses peirced. one side i had to peirce twice and if it was that painful i would have not done it. the first time i had it peirced with a needle and the second time i had it done with a gun. i would suggest the needle. on a scale of 1-10 i would say its about a 1. go for it i love my peircings (8) and they look so great you have five cartilage peircings come on now? GET IT DONE!!!!!!!
