The other night i woke up from a deep sleep & as i started drifting back off, although i was awake i started hearing voices! I tried to snap myself out of it and woke up enough to stop the voices but when i started drifting off again i heard the voices! Is this normal as i was still quite awak but kinda half asleep?

The phenomena is called hypnogogia when you are falling asleep and Hypnopompia when awakening. They are considered hallucinations but it is not known whether they are pathological. You can find more information about them by typing, "Hypnogogic hallucinations" into Yahoo! search. Wikipedia has a good discussion of the phenomenon. You can also get a more professional discussion by going to "The British Journal of Psychiatry" and typing Hyphogogia into their archive index search. Good luck.

I do all the time. I'm not sure what it is. It's only when you get to that quiet serene place in your mind just as you fall to sleep. Some might argue that it's spirits trying to communicate, some might stay it's just the beginning of your dream state. That's what I like to think it is. Anything else might creep me out.
