ie I have 02/01/07 in a cell and I want to just show the "02". The calculation LEFT and over 2 gives me back "39". I think it is a formatting issue but I've tried to format it everyway possible. Thanks!

Excel converts date strings like "02/01/07" to an serial date number but displays that value in a variety of different date formats. The "39" you are getting are the first two characters of the serial date number 39114. If you are wanting to pick of the month portion of the date, use the Month() function. Assume the date 02/01/07 is in cell A1. If you enter Month(A1) in cell A2, the program will display the number 2 as the calculated result of the function. You can do the same using the Year() and Day() functions. To learn more about Excel's date functions, check out the function wizard.

Use the month function. You can then format the cells to show the month number, abbreviated name or full name like the text function.

The downside of the text function is that is converts the numbers to text. You cannot easily do any math on it such as get the difference between months, etc.

I don't recommend using the MONTH function. I prefer TEXT function to do this. It gives you ultimate control.

Assume your date is in cell A2 for below formulas

=TEXT(A2,"mm") displays month number
=TEXT(A2,"mmm") displays month abbreviation
=TEXT(A2,"mmmm") displays month fulle name

You can substitute the "m" with any of the other format options available. When formatting a cell, there is a choice called "Custom". Scroll through that to see examples. The possibilities you can use with TEXT are amazing.

Hope this helps!

She might want to get doggy treats and fix a lengthy rope on his collar and then she might want to bypass to a open section the position the canine can't be distracted and enable the doggy run round for slightly even as this is on the lead. Then call him and carry out the manage and wait till he comes and once he comes she will be in a position to praise him. try this for a lengthy time period till he learns to go back decrease back and then she will be in a position to take the lead off and bypass to an ecosystem the position there are different canine and people. i'm no longer certain how she will be in a position to make him stay mutually with her for the completed walk yet when he does commence to run off you may merely call him and he might want to come decrease back if she experienced him properly.
