I always feel tired even after I get 8 hour overnight sleeps. It messes with my schooling. Like falling asleep when I am trying to read. Any reasons or cures?

Hmm, this is actually normal for teenagers. They usually need more sleep than adults do. However, if you need more than 10 hours of sleep a night to feel rested, then there could be an imbalance in your body, or you could have a thyroid condition.

Try things like drinking caffiene-free teas before bed. Don't do any other activities in your bed that you can do elsewhere like reading, playing video games, etc. Think of your bed as only a place to sleep. Also, try getting on a regular schedule, even on the weekend. Go to bed the same time each night and wake up the same time each day. If that helps, that might be what works for you.

If none of those help, then I would see your doctor. It's nothing serious, but he/she might be able to pinpoint any problems. I could be something as simple as an iron deficiency, which is diagnosed with a blood test. Also, like I said before, it could be a thyroid problem, which is also diagnosed with a blood test. Just wait it out and pay attention to any patterns you develop during sleep. They might help you figure out the problem on your own.

While the average time a human being needs sleep is 8 hours, it is vastly different with each individual.

Some people can't sleep more than 4 to 5 hours, while others can't sleep less than 10 hours, sometimes 12.

There could be a lot of reasons for this.
Thyroid problems(medication maybe needed),
lack of nutrition(increase veggies and fruits and stay away from sugary substance),
stress,
not getting a "restful" sleep due to sleep apnea(sleep test maybe need to be done).
You should really talk with your doctor to make sure nothing serious is going on.
