rest, lots of liquids, rest, vitamins, and rest....

then if it doesn't clear up in a few days, see a doc, it may be more serious

Last time I felt feverish I took a hot & cold shower and it went away. I didn't have mucousy gunk with it though.

Hot & cold shower: Start with a warm shower, then turn it as hot as you can take it on your head for like a minute, turn it to cold and do it for like 30 seconds. Repeat several times. The hot/cold gets the blood moving quickly in and out of the area where it's applied, and that's where your're immune system is.

Take lots of Vit C for throat & nose problems. I get the chewable 500 or 1000 mg tablets and eat them like candy all day (If you o.d. on Vit C you get diahrea, so you know when to cut back - that's never happened to me.)

Garlic also boost the immune system.

Zinc helps cut the time you have a cold by a few days.

Since you've already got a full blown case of it, it's not likely you can "get rid" of it, but you might be able to shorten the duration.

When I feel a cold coming on I eat lots of fruit & buy Vit C & I rarely actually "catch a cold".

I would HIGHLY suggest going to the doctor. These things will go away on their own with time and Nyquil, but I had a horrible cold a few months ago. I thought it went away on its own after a week or so, but then I ended up in the ER for severe nausea and light-headedness. It turns out that the cold I had never really went away, and fluid was building up in my head. It's a horrible feeling, and it took 10 days just to start to feel better. But I got anti-biotics and cured myself.

If you don't like seeing a doctor, you could of course just wait it out. However, you should never compromise your health, especially when a fever is involved. Monitor your fever, and if it gets worse, then see a doctor for sure. But even if you don't go now, go for a check-up when you're feeling better just to make sure it has cleared.
