I know that Colbert is a registered Democrat. I know that's not a religious belief, but you did ask if they are "liberal"..... Jon Stewart has said many times on his show that he's Jewish.

Stewert is Jewish, Colbert was raised an intellectual Catholic and was taught to question the church but still be Catholic.
