can raw potatoes give you worms or anything else?

I've seen a few recipes for raw potato salads, and my wife seems to recall munching more than a few as a kid. Sounds exciting, and I'd be interested in trying it myself, now that you mention it...

There's always a chance that you could get sick from eating a raw vegetable, but the chances are pretty small if you're washing them well and eating them fresh.

If it looks green, and is sprouting eyes, don't even bother peeling it away, potatoes are cheap enough to just get a new one. That sort of potato could get you pretty sick.

As to nutrition, I think you'd do better eating a cooked potato. Most of the starch in the potato in the raw form is harder for your body to access and digest.

Are Raw Potatoes Healthy

I've been eating raw potatoes since I was a kid, am now 38. They are just such a good snack, sprinkle with a little salt.

Another trick with the potatoes that I love, is sometimes I cut them into slices and soak them in a bowl of white vinegar in the refridgerator. If you like salt and vinegar potato chips, then you'll like my raw chips and vinegar. Cucumbers sliced up in a bowl of white vinegar, in fridge, is good too.

Yes, you can eat raw potatoes...I eat them all of the time. There's an old wives tale that they can help you calm down when you're nervous. There are no worms in raw potatoes.

Yes, raw potatoes are not toxic, with the exception of the green parts. These may contain toxic levels of solanin. Raw potatoes, however, may cause flatulence in many people.

If they're full of worms, then I'm full of them as well....lol As a child growing up in Iowa my mother used to give me peeled, sliced potatoes with salt & pepper as a snack. Suprisingly, I loved them. Now, I think they're a bit on the starchy side....

I would wash and peel them first, since they come out of the ground. But there is nothing wrong with eating them raw...I like them sliced with lots of salt on top.

I eat them too! Many people think they taste yucky. But I don't. I've eaten them raw since I was a kid. I am 38 years old and still kickin' so I must be doin' somethin' right! :-)
