The combined pill will do this if you keep taking one packet after another without a break, but if you do it too often without a period you can have bad side effects. Cerazette (the mini pill), contraceptive implants and the contraceptive injection will do it for some people but not all - I've been on cerazette about a year with less regular bleeding but still bleeding. Whatever you use for it you'll need to talk to your doctor, who'll no doubt want to know why you want to stop you monthly cycle.

Any oestrogen/progestrone contraceptive pill will do that (not the 'mini-pill' which is progestrone only). There should either be 21 pills in your packet or 28 pills, 7 of which are sugar pills, which are just dud pills for when you have your period. If you take the first active pill from the next packet on the following day after you've taken your last active pill from the previous packet you will skip that period. It's not recommended to skip your period more than twice by this method because you will start to get break-through bleeding. Your body can't hold it in forever.

This is a common request from women wanting to avoid periods for a holiday or special event. The easiest way to do it is to run 2 packs of the oral contraceptive together, i.e. take 42 tablets in a row. The period when you stop is a doozy I am afraid.

If the combined oral contraceptive is not for you, because of age or medical history, it can also be done with primolut, which is a non-contraceptive progesterone.

There is a newish form of mini pill called Cerazette which is a packet of 28 pills taken one per day, when a packet is finished you open the next packet and continue taking with no breaks. I have been using this for about a year, with one small bleed at the start and none since. This was recommended by my doctor because with other contraceptive pills the monthly withdrawal gave awful migraines.

you can take birth control pills and not take the ones that are for when your period comes. just skip those 7 pills and take the others. instead of them lasting a month, you'd need another packet every 3 weeks.

Actually there is one that you can take that they usually allow you to stay on for about 6 months. I worked for me, but is not permanent. Unfortuanetly I don't remember the name of it my ob/gyn gave it to me when I asked the same question.

I think this is a very dangerous thing to do as you're interefering with your body's natural order!
