I've thought for sometime that it may just be his personality.. When they put the camera on Matt, I think he freezes up in someways. Notice during his pre/post-race interviews, He says "um" repeatedly during them. Before, During, and After his sentences sometimes! It gets quite annoying. He's very mono-tone also. His voice is just not one that catches peoples attentions.. He's quite boring I'd even say. I don't think it helps his fan base either that he's in that #17 DeWalt Tools Ford.. F*** FORD and F*** DEWALT...

He is a winner who beats people like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Tony Stewart. I've always liked him. He doesn't say much but does his talking on the race track. He, Jimmie Johnson, and Mark Martin are the only 3 drivers to make the "Chase" every time. Personally I don't think Junior has a great personality either and it seems a majority of the fans love him. He and Kenseth are best friends off the track by the way.

You know they call him Cornflake in the garage area. He is so boring compared to some of the other personalities like the villain Tony Stewart and the golden boy Jeff Gordon and Mr. All American Carl Edwards and of coarse the racing god Dale Jr.!
Matt has no personality but, like him or not you have to say he is a good driver.( I just threw up in my mouth for having to admit that.)

maybe because his ford is always consistently in front and always in the points hunt every year other than jimmie johnson ,matt is the only other driver to make the chase every single year stewart missed it last year and gordon and dale jr missed it the year before,also it may be that he beat dale jr for rookie of the year and he has a championship that dale jr dont have yet . i agree matt seems uncomfortable in front of the camera but the real reason alot of people dont like him is coming in at the same time dale jr did matt has been far more successful on the track. plus add in some people only pull for a certain make of car,which no offense to anyone who does but i like to pull for a driver not a car make

I hate Matt Kenseth, as he is such a whiner. Everyone whines about something but I just don't like him and his racing style. I also hate how he started the whole intentionally wrecking Jeff Gordon at Bristol and Gordon got fined $10,000 for pushing him. Newsflash, Kenseth, after you just on purposely wrecked a driver, I don't care if your the best of friends, don't go over and talk to them, as something is going to happen. Guess what something did. Then at Chicagoland Kenseth was complaining about how that was payback for Bristol, please, no one got fined in both incidents, and if you hadn't won at that track and you wree in 2nd do you really think that you would give that up? I dont think so. I hate Kenseth and he shouldn't of won California back to back. Jeff Gordon should of won, and with a couple mroe laps he would have.

I think you nailed it there king, it's his demeanor and appearance. He is not comfortable in the spotlight and he is not the good looking poster boy of NASCAR like say Kahne, Edwards and Johnson. The thing I like about Matt is that he is pretty humble for how good he is. However he does not come off that well in interviews and really looks awkward at times when he is posing for pictures after winning a race. I don't know if he is hated as much as he is just not that many people's favorite, though. He really is a good guy that has never worried that much about how he comes across on TV as long as he stays competitive on the race track.

You know, I have to disagree with you on this one. Hooray for FORD and hooray for the #17 DeWalt Tools FORD FUSION. As far as it matters, all professional athletes use the "word" um. I mean you just won at something and now are put on the spot for an impromptu. interview. How about we put you in the situation, no rehearsal at it and count how many times you would say ,UM UM UM UM UM UM!! GO MATT KENSETH AND THE #17 DEWALT TOOLS FORD FUSION!!

I love Matt He's the man!
And how the heck does the way he talk have anything to do with his incredible talent as a driver, What a dumb reason not to like him.
He's already won a championship, finished 2nd last season and has already one both a Busch and cup race this season.

Really? I think if anyone is annoying to watch get interviewed is that f a g Jimmie Johnson. Talk about being a frickin puppet. He acts like he is reading from a cue card that his Hendrick homo team mates have to memorize before being interviewed. At least Kenseth talks with some intelligence about racing instead of how many times the Hendrick boys talk about how great their sponsors are. Piss on the Hendrick boys. Talk about the ambiguous gay duo team huh.

Yea i think his personality has alot to do with, it but if you watch some interviews he has kind of a dry sense of humor and will talk but only if it seems hes comfortable. But i have to agree i dont think that its the fact people dont like him, he just doesnt have the same appeal as other racers. Other things i know people dont like about him is that fans think that he is a points racer like when he won the title (1 win), and doesnt race for the win, hes been criticized over that too in the past years.
