Well you better start telling them right now, the truth is going to come out sometime.
Also, the truth will set you free!

If you are an adult, it is your life and your decision. Keep in mind that your parents have your best interests at heart and they are more experienced than you. Ask them why they don't like him and decide if they have a good reason to object. A broken engagement is better than a divorce.

Well they probably have there reasons, I would have to wonder why your fiancee would agree to get engaged without your parents knowledge or consent ! What kind of guy would do that? I do not even know him, and I do not like him either !

You need to sit both of your parents down and converse with them as a grown adult. If at all possible get your fiance to sit in there with you since this concerns both of you. Why don't they like him? Parents usually are looking out for their children, but when they find out that they can't make your mind up for you usually they'll back off, but you need to tell them and not leave them in the dark.

hmmm, you've got yourself in a difficult situation.
you should always respect your parents, but at the same time, you already told this guy you'de marry him.
why dont you get your parents and this guy and you together and talk it over.
your parents probably have a good reason for not liking him. if they dont like him, your probably now going to be happy living with him.
ever notice how much domestic violence there is nowadays?
if people would listen to their parents alot of it would stop.

Ultimately is your life......if you are sure he is the right guy keep him!!!
If there is a little doubt as little as it is.........make him wait to get married and if you are not sure when that will be talk to him about it because you may be there for a long time and meet others in the middle......complicated stuff!!!!
If you talk to your parents it could help.....maybe you are rushing things too fast and he is not the greatest guys at this time let them get to know him better!!!
Good luck but if you keep things from your parents they are bound to get worse!!!!!

It depends on how old you are. If you are of legal age you need to decide for yourself who you want to be with. You cannot be with someone who your parents love and you don't. Now, obviously it would be a lot easier and make everyone a lot happier if your parents liked him. You need to decide what is more important to you, your fiance's love or your parents approval. Maybe they can learn to like him. Think of some ideas to get him on their good side.

First I would ask, why don't they like him? He's no good for you, but you will never see it. It is going to take a lot for you to see it and then maybe you never will. Maybe he is on parole, maybe he is married, maybe he doesn't have a job and he probably can't take care of you. I know you won't do it, but take your parents concerns into consideration and keep an open mind.

is there a reason you don't want your parents to know? if you have to be sneaky about the engagement, maybe marriage isn't the way to go.

Well, you do need to tell them. Obviously, they WILL find out at some point. And trust me, they'd much rather know before you show up and say, "Hey, we're married!"
Now unless they don't like your man for a legit reason -- he's dangerous, abusive, etc... -- then it doesn't matter whether they like him or not. Your parents love you and of course want the best for you, but YOU'RE marrying this guy, not them.

I was in the same situation but i just thought about what made me happy i was so tired of thinking about how everyone else would feel about me being with him and how my mom would dislike it but at the end i just told my mother and i felt alot better because i was going to be with the person i loved and i didn't have to hide from anyone any more. Just think about what makes you happy if he makes you happy and your not willing to loose him talk to your parents they should know and understand how it feels to be in love they cant pick who you want to be with!!
