Someone stole mine and that was the best bike I ever rode!

actually, it was just another mass produced cheap bike that was licensed by the Eddie Bauer name...
stay away from Walmart, Kmart, etc.
go to your local bike shop and look at higher quality bikes. check out Trek, KHS, Specialized, and Giant.

If I remember correctly, Eddie Bauer was made by Giant but with lower end components to meet specific pricepoints. So, you can likely find nearly the same bike under the Giant brand name.

I don't think Eddie Bauer ever built themselves a bike. Usually, they have some bike builder makes bikes that meet their criteria and then sell them on their own names. A lot of companies eventually do this.
You can probably look at Trek, Specialized or Giant for bikes that will probably be as good, if not better, than your previous bike.
