having your spouse compliment you on your looks, saying how beautiful you look and how nice your hair is and your beautiful smile, what a nice body you have etc OR would you rather have a man that is a good communicator and listener, always looking for your best interest, helping you in situations physically and mentally good gifts that you need and want (expensive ones at that)and does everything in his power for you.
Only pick one,not both and dont say it should be a compromise of both.
what is more important to women the complimenter or the one who shows his love?
I could be just plain ugly, fat and stupid and fooling myself, but even when I looked my best 5'8 1/2 inches at 140# he never complimented me then either and I can understand why he doesnt now because I have put some weight on and may not be attractive to him anymore, because I know he knows how to compliment because he compliments others when they look good, so I get the doer, but I guess at least he shows his love some wa

I'd choose the one who complimented me, especially if I had put on weight. I'm sure you compliment him all the time.
Any guy who shows you he cares about you by doing things for you, helping you, and showing interest in your problems is a Bastard. The fact that he listens to you and cares about what you have to say just makes him a bigger jerk.
You should dump his sorry a ss and find yourself a wonderful man who will compliment and flatter you , If you don't like the way he shows you he cares , the fact that he really does means nothing.

My vote would DEFINITELY go to choice #2...the one who showed you that he loved you.

I have been married twice (and divorced twice) and in my experience the guys that flatter aren't necessarily the ones that walk the walk when times get rough. Words are just words...if he is with you through the long haul and consistently works for the best interests of you and of the relationship, then that seems like a good man to me.

He also may just assume you know he likes the way you look, since you are married. Some guys figure all is well with the world unless somebody comes right out and says differently, so maybe if he told you that you were beautiful once, he figures you know that he still thinks you are.

No woman will ever really know how her man thinks...but I think that the fact that he "does everything in his power for you" is a good sign that you've got one of the good ones.
