Most spoiler on todays cars are for looks. the size of the spoiler would have to be so large to produce any notable results, unless you normally drive 100+ MPH.

They in fact cause drag in normal driving unless adjusted properly as their intention is to produce a down force on the rear suspension now if you want aerodynamics look for a body kit with air dams around the perimeter of the car...

As prev stated, spoilers are items tat will create directional force at the expense of added drag. Engineers call it induced drag and in this case, for your car, it would be a cosmetic upgrade.

Most true effective spoilers actually don't look all that good.

The only production cars I can think of that had spoilers that actually worked at lower speeds (80mph+)were the Dodge Charger daytona and the Boss302 mustang. There are a few others like the porsche 911, Lamborghinis and Ferrari F 40 etc....

You DO need a spolier on your front wheel drive if you will be driving in high speed curves. There is very little weight over the back tires since the engine and tranny are up front. Add a FACTORY spoiler will create some down force that will put more pressure on the rear to keep it planted to the pavement in curves. Do not get one of those gay aftermarket spoilers that look like they came offf a jet, they will gve you too much downforce and hinder performance.

Spoilers originated in racing to CHANGE the aerodynamics that will create more speed or better handling.
Most aftermarket spoilers are more SHOW than GO!!
Unless you have access to a wind tunnel where you can test and adjust the spoiler, you will have to play with it to get the results you may be looking for.
BE CARE FULL!!! You may "CREATE" problems.... Especially at high speeds and windy conditions.

They won't help you as you are driving around town, looking good. But if you are often at the race track a Spoiler will apply a downward force on the rear of your car to help plant the rear tires and increase traction. If you are looking into a spoiler because someone said it will help you increase fuel economy, then it is more likely that it will increase your fuel economy because of the additional weight on your car.

the point of a spoiler is to look cool, In actual racing the spoiler is kinda like a sail on a boat it catches wind and forces the rear of the car to the road, so it is safer at the higher speeds.

spoilers for a front wheel drive car are frickin retarted!!!!!! and they actully create more drag.

the purpose of a spoiler is to make down force on the rear tires at highspeeds so they dont break loose and cause you to spin out. seeing as you have no power going to your back wheels there is no need to keep them pushed down. plus that sentra will never go fast enough to really need that.

Spoilers are made to create down force at high speeds. They will INCREASE the drag

what a spoiler is in essence is an upside down wing, it will push your car down to the ground to keep it in contact with the pavement, but it will only do this in excess of 100mph. frankly i dont think youd be going that fast,so its really just a waste of money.and if you do go to sell the car later some people will be turned away from buying it because of the spoiler.
