A good friend of mine (and co-worker) came into the office last week in a sweat suit, and we have the same strict dress code you have. I was the only person she told, along with our boss, that she was going in for a mammogram later in the day. She had been in and out of doctor's office all week because they found a lump in her breast. The other people in the office were all whispering all day trying to figure out why she was wearing that. She was doing it so she would feel more comfortable at the doctor.
I'm not trying to say that your coworker has a lump in her breast, but there may be a reason for her wearing pajamas.
Take care!!

They may have been the nicest PJ's but they are in no way proper for the office.Someone may have dared her to do it.But that is not a dare I'd take as my job would be more important to me.Did she do this on April Fool's Day? But even then it is not the thing to do.What you should have done was when she first came in take her a side and ask why she came to work dressed like that.It need not have been a long talk just a few seconds. Then you'd have had your answer.I'm very surprised that your supervisor did not speak to her !PJ's have no place in the office. She was clearly anti dress code.Once a girl came in with 2 different shoes on.She said that she was deciding what ones to put on for the day and the phone rang and when she got off she was late so just rushed out of the house that way.It was not that bad cause she sat at a desk most of the day. But getting back to your story...I'm very surprised that she was not sent home to change as that would have be the case in lots of other work places.

I think that you should just mind your business. If none of the managers or people who run the company have a problem with it- then you shouldn't either. It's not your place o address the situation. Leave her be. She may have had a really rough night. maybe a loved one got sick in the middle of the night, and she had to rush to the hospital while still in her pajamas. Maybe she came straight from the hospital to work, and figured better to be there on time in pajamas then late or absent otherwise. A similar situation actually happened to me. Just leave her alone- or it you think that her job may be in jeopardy- just politely ask her. She'll either tell you to **** offf- or will answer your question. They're just clothes. If it doesn't hinder her ability to do her job, why does it matter?

I have noticed more and more people are wearing PJ's out in public and even slippers.
But to work is a real bad image for her and the company.
Someone must talk to her. And it should be her immediate supervisor. Bring it to her attention.
I see many going to Walmart, Safeway and walking down the street dressed in bedroom attire. For some it is attention, for others it is a statement that I have Power and for others they just want the comfort if they can get away with it.
But in the workplace I think it is a cry for Power, they want to be in charge. That is a bad sign. And once again it is the worst image for a company.
Please say something to someone. If your company gets hurt in the end it will hurt all employees, even you.

I think you should worry about your own work. Not what that hussy is wearing today. Let the boss deal with her, if you say something you'll be the bad person. The messanger always gets shot. Remember when you were a kid?? Don't tattle. She'll get it sooner or later. Mind your own business and be a better employee than her.

You should go talk to her about it. She is either sad and depressed or has no clue as to what the proper work attire is for a professional workplace. Either way, it needs to be done before someone higher up catches drift of what's going on.

Casually ask her if her suit is still at the drycleaners. Her attire is obviously distracting to others in the office- therefore it is a work-related conversation because it's not only bothering you.

awwwwwww poor girl, maybe she woke up late and didn't want to be later for work? No seriously, the boss needs to have a chat with this person, as her dress is really inappropriate for a business environment, but totally fine for a pajama party!

Sounds to me like she is either completly insane or has a great sense of humor and is just trying to lighten everyone up a litte. I'd say ask her. Either way your bound to get a really good story.
