then you have everything to lose by not believing. Do you agree or disagree?

I don't get it "an old mick". What do you mean? I was just wondering what people thought. Don't get on here often. Haha - a drinking game!

AWWWW poor Jason. I hurt your feelings so you had to write exactly what I wrote in your question. Poor, sad, brainless Jason. ps - I love seeing this question on this site. It's up at least every 30 seconds.

Wow.

You sure have come up with an original thought, here.

*rolls eyes*

And, BTW, I disagree completely.

One does have a lot to lose.

wow pascals wager yet again.

what if zues exists?
what if odin exists?
what if none exist?
what if christian god exist?
what if jesus is false?
what if one of the other millions of religions are true and yours isnt?

sorry pascals wager only works if atheism and christianity are your only options. it is negated as soon as other religions are introduced.

btw what i lose by believing in god. say 30 minutes a day due to prayer, and we'll ignore the extra time taken on sunday. 30 minutes a day, for a week is 3.5hrs a week, at 52 weeks is 182hrs a year, at 40 years 7280hrs.
so after 40 years of worshipping a god, ive spent over 303 and 1/3 days worshipping a being who may not be there. after 40 years ive spent almsot an entire year dedicated soley to worship.

and if he doesnt exist, thats a year wasted that i could be doing something useful for society...

It's an old, and just as lame, argument that believers often use. If there is no god and you spend hours and hours of your life and thousands of dollars of your money in the futile pursuit of nothing then I would say you have lost a lot.

That's Pascal's Wager.

And it's part of a drinking game on here, being a lame, pointless, and over asked question.

Bottom's up!

edit : I can't believe someone starred a Pascal's Wager question. That's one of the most embarrassing things I've seen on here.

But you do have a lot to lose by believing in God. Friends, good times, getting drunk, drugs, lying, cheating, stealing, committing adultery, hate, self-righteousness, vengeance, and lots of other neat stuff.

Some people love these things and can't or won't give them up.

I've heard this before, but honestly, I don't even like it when people who call themselves believers ask this question, because it seems to me that it means they don't really believe. You can not please God without FAITH.

Disagree. There is nothing to be gained or lost because you are God...as am I.

Don't you mean " If there is a god & he is so vain, insecure, and ruthless a tyrant that he'd send people into eternal suffering for not being loyal to him ... then .. "

If that's your god, keep him. Sounds like Sadam to me.
