It works very well balancing uneven table legs.

Well part of your question is wrong many people read the Bible and a lot of people are inspired by the Bible so that's why the Bible is the bestselling book of all time

Coincidentally, it's the most shoplifted book as well.

Many people buy it to have it, or because they intend to read it and never get around to it, or they buy it to study (and by study I mean look at the select passages their pastor tells them to).

Very few people read it straight through, cover to cover. Most of those who do realize how contradictory and absurd the whole thing is, how violent and evil Yahweh is, and they become agnostic/atheist. In my experience that's the best quickest, easiest way to make someone lose faith: have them read the bible through.

Ignorance is bliss and it's easier to just go with the passages commonly quoted by pastors and leaders. Christians often say children have to "honor thy father and mother" ignoring the second half of that same sentence which basically says "if they don't - kill them." (Mark 7:9-10), they eagerly quote the passage about killing homosexuals, but overlook the next couple pages where it talks about how you need to kill babies by smashing them against rocks or god's specific instructions for how to capture a woman, rape her and force her to be your wife (includes shaving her head).

More people should read the bible all the way through: really.

Who says nobody reads it? If 1% of the world reads it, that's still 50 million people. How many best sellers have sold 50 million? If 1 billion people buy it and don't read it, it's still a best seller. See the math? Sell=Buy. Get it?

If evolution is a best selling idea, but no proof, why does everybody believe it?

Same intelligent way of thinking, huh?

Most Christian families have one or more copies for each member, where as with a normal book, one copy is sufficient or they borrow from a friend or library. Churches purchase a large number of Bibles, and the Gideons hand out, distribute and leave many more.

Becasue it's a really old book and that's an easy claim to make. Most people in the Middle Ages couldn't read so that's debatable.

Some people buy it for good luck, thinking just having a Bible will get them into Heaven. I personally read my Bible every day.

Who says nobody reads it?
I know many that do not just only read it, but LIVE by it!
James 1:22 says "Be doers of the word and not just hearers who delude themselves"
--I desire to read my Bible, and when I don't I feel the need to even more! It is because God changes us, and gives us a desire to KNOW him and He teaches us through His word and keeps us from straying from the truth.
Many read their bibles, just to "get it out of the way" thinking they did their "good deed" for the day. And many read their bibles in humbleness, wanting to hear what God has to say, and wanting to draw closer to Him. And many study their bibles, verse by verse because they long to know the secrets and things of God, to know the scriptures and the plans God has. I love what Jeremiah 33:3 says "Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know"
--God knows whose hearts are truly seeking Him.

Because People honestly validate their "relationship" with God by simply saying "I have a Bible" or they keep their Bibles on stand by so just in case life gets rough enough they'll turn to God for guidance and answers. They need to use them regularly and maybe the rough stuff wouldn't happen.

I think you answered your own question. Why WOULD it be the best selling book of all time if nobody reads it? Trust me - people are reading...

I have read it cover to cover at least a dozen times in at least 1/2 dozen different versions. Most of my friends read it. Maybe you are hanging out with the wrong crowd.
Why not read it yourself and find out?
