As a conservative, i cannot understand why those in my party are opposed to it. I personally do not even like unions, but it seems to me that people should have the freedom to join if they want. The people in charge of protecting us from another 9/11 should be the best paid, best trained people we can get. The only reason to not let them join a union is to repress their wages, and impose rules on them that you cannot on with the other 53,000 department of homeland security personal who are already in the union. How in the world does bush and company think denying unions to screeners will make us safer. piss those people off, and if they are mad, not paying attention, who knows what will happen.

I am not a big fan of unions either, & have no problem in principle w allowing the screeners to unionize. The one union type issue that does rear its head tho is what about a union call for a strike?

How is this handled? Reagan handled it pretty well in my opinion!!
