Eating yogurt will not trim your waistline, BUT REPLACING your normal snacks with yogurt will most likely reduce your caloric intake thus reducing your waistline.

Yogurt...by itself does not trim your waistline. However studies show that adding dairy to your diet does help to lose weight. Eat a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, protein, carbs and dairy. Keep you calories between 1200-1400. And make sure you exercise and drinks at least 8 glasses of water per day. The Yoplait low fat/low cal yogurt is really good and they have alot of different flavors. It is the one with the blue top.

with plain yogurt, I recommend extra vitamin C to neutralize latic acid build-up and avoid muscle's cramp until the body can adjust.
