Is it ever possible that they were "meant" to do it? By that i mean that i have heard of people who have tried numerous times to die,but always fail....because it was not their time to go..is it not true that if it isn't your time.....you won't succeed at it?? My friend did it and i have spent years trying to find some sort of reasoning to explain it...he had a short but very hard life.

I'm sorry for your loss. There are examples of suicide in the Bible, I believe it is the Catholic faith that believes this puts you into purgatory. But I do agree that all things happen for a reason. It is sad that pain, depression, mental illness, and other conditions can cause someone to want to take their own lives. I am not sure if he believed in Christ, but if he had ever accepted Jesus into his life, even if he hit rock bottom, I do believe that he is in heaven. Sometimes people are put in our lives to affect those people around them. His short hard life may just be one example of that. May God comfort you and show you peace in this matter.

Around half of suicides are committed by people either suffering from clinical depression or bipolar disorder, both are genetic diseases, bipolar disorder is always there, clinical depression takes environmental triggers, these cause a chemical unbalance of the brain that makes an individual have little control of their thoughts, and thus their actions.

I'm not sure about the bipolar side of things, but the states on clinical depression.

15% of the people will develop clinical depression in their life, which is probably pretty close to the percentage genetically able to develop the disease.

Of those, 30% will attempt suicide.

15% will succeed.

When a person takes their own life they are taking their life from God as well and yes everyone has a time to go but if you go against God and don't follow Him you are no longer under His protection and whatever you do is out of His hands by His choice. At the same time of course God can decide to have mercy on a person through prayers and such.

No. Here are God's plans for a life.Jeremiah 29:11
11For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
The person who gives up on life, believes a lie (that there is no hope or other way)
Im sorry about your friend, but I know God is full of mercy and compassion and will do everything to reach a hurting person, even if its seconds before death.

You explained it, he had a hard life. People who are willing to commit suicide are obviously in a lot of deep pain, a devastating despair. It is a horrible event for the loved ones of the deceased, there is no explanation, but lots of guilt and sorrow.

But I feel like this that when the took there life they could not stand the trial that God was putting them through and so when the took their lives the commited sin. I'm sorry if you do not agree with me but that's my believe.

killing yourself is victory for satan and defeat for you. You are murdering yourself and murder is selfish. God will never have you kill yourself but satan loves to tell you that you should. No, we are not meant to kill ourselves, this life is hard for all people. Youre not with the worst life and even people who sleep on dirt under a tree with no shoes are able to live and do their best. They still love Jesus and God blesses them. Because in heaven the first will be last and the last first and in heaven they will be feasting and have many riches.

i don't think this is ever a part of god's will. just means he had a hard time dealing with life, and life hurt him. i think that life is a gift from god, and we have to find our own way in life and have faith that life will get easier. bad happens to us all, we just have to watch our beliefs, and our attitudes. we have to watch how we respond to our hurts, as if we let them they can destroy us.
