A tattoo is going to hurt no matter where you get it. But, from personal experience, anyplace on your body where you have some "padding" in much less painful than say your ankle, small of the back, shoulder, etc. Forgive me, but I have to say this - when getting a tattoo, choosing the placement of the tattoo is almost as important as the design of your tattoo. If you are considering a tattoo and you biggest worry is putting it somewhere where it isn't going to hurt, you may need to reconsider getting tattooed.
To give some finality to your question, your rear-end is more than likely the place a tattoo would hurt the least - as on most bodies, that is where the most padding is. I am including the links to a couple pages that have some information on tattoos and getting tattooed. Best of luck with your choice!

Not trying to be unhelpful, but that is sort of something that you are going to have to figure out yourself, as only you know what parts of your body are the most sensitive.
I can be helpful in telling you to stay away from anyplace that has bones. The more padding, ie, fat in the area, the less pain. That is why it is illegal for you to get tattoos on your feet or your hands in the US. It is also really hard around your ankle, there are parts that apparently really hurt.
I hardly felt it on my back. I have three stars at the point where my jeans end and the flesh shows before a shirt starts, hope that makes sense. That was a lot less painful than on my shoulder or my wrist. The wrist was bad, but then that one was multi-color and big.
I do hope I've helped a little. I think the back, or the *** is always the easiest place to get it done, but then you have to deal with sitting, so maybe sort of where I did it, I had no problems. By the way, I am an adult, not a kid trying to help. I'm in my late 50's if that helps as far as knowing what I'm talking about.

...least likely hurtful?
Well, pain varies from person to person based on individual tolerance to pain.
Getting a tattoo on an area with fat or muscle will usually hurt less than getting a tattoo on an area where the skin is closer to the bone or nerve endings. But it can vary greatly.
For me the most painful area to tattoo was my foot and my calf and the side/back of my knee. Hurt like hell for a week! The least painful for me was ankle and my back hip/butt area.
If you are really worried about the pain, don't get a tattoo. I personally don't think they hurt all that bad, its more annoying than anything else.

I just got a tattoo, and it wasn't near as bad as I imagined. I am so sorry for your loss. What a great tribute to your Mom. The tattoo artist I had told me that there really are no more or less painful spots as the needle never goes deep enough to hit bone, but the more muscular spots on your body hold the design better, and for much longer. One thing I would recommend is to choose a design with finer lines, it's the going over of heavy lines that hurts, but not as bad as a bee sting. One line I had done was painful because I got a native wolf design and the lines were heavy. All the best, and my heart is with you on the loss of your Mom. Mine is very very ill at the moment and I can not imagine the loss, I hope that I won't have to know... yet.

I've heard the upper arm and parts of the back, basically anywhere there is a lot of muscle. But don't settle for a certain location just because it hurts less, later on you may regret it and wish you had taken the pain since it would mean a better location.

Upper arms or legs. Stay away from the bones and joints. The more meat you have in any area, the less he tattoo will hurt. If you want to see how a tattoo will feel, sterilize a safety pin and scratch yourself repeatedly where you want it. That's pretty much how getting the tattoo will feel.

I've got two tattoos, the fleshier the area you have done, the less it tends to hurt. I would either go for your calf (side of or back of) or the tops of your arm. It's not particularly painful at all!

hello! My boyfriend does tattoos so i have seen PLENTY of reactions, and honestly, everybody is different. But in general, from least to most painful from what you want: - Top Corner Of Your Back (your shoulder??) - Back Of Neck - Ear - Hip & Foot depend on your size... if you're a really skinny person your hip will hurt more than your foot.

I've heard it's different for everyone. I just got my tattoo done on my arm and I sat for 3 hours and it didn't hurt too bad. My girlfriend got her first tattoo on her lower back and she said it hurt a lot less than one she got between her shoulder blades.

I got my tattoo on my butt and it HURT!!!! It felt like I was getting sliced by razors!!! I have heard that your arm is the least painful place to get a tattoo, but I don't have one there so I don't know for sure. Still, if you do get one on your butt, get it higher up towards your back so you aren't sitting on the area. Mine is higher and I didn't have any pain while it was healing!
