My boyfriend is talking about popping the question later this year. We both talk about marriage all the time and we want to be together for the rest of our lives. We have been dating for a little over a year now.

That depends on the people...Why be in a rush to get a little piece of paper when you two already know you two will be together forever? I mean if you want to by all means go for it, there's never a right or wrong time. Of course everyone will tell you wait YEARS before you get married but it all depends on the people. Some are unsure, some don't want to get married right away, others just don't want to get married period. Don't worry about what others think/feel. You do what is best for you and your relationship. Good luck !!

I don't think there is a specific timetable for that.

I know a couple that dated since middle school and got marry after college the first year was pure hell. There are also this other couple that only dated 3 months and then got marry they are a lot more happy than the one that dated almost a decade.

You just know when the time is right. You are never going to truly know the person you are marrying until you start living with them and even then.

Good luck and congratulations on your future engagement.

I think that depends. How old are you? If you really love him, and know that he is the one for you, then I say go for it. I personally would want to be dating someone for at least a year or so before he pops the question, and you have been together for over a year, so yeah, go for it. Well, if you're both under 21, I'd probably say are you sure he's the one, don't you want to see who else is out there, but if you're sure, no one can stop you.

There is no set time frame for getting married. Whenever it feels right. My boyfriend and I have been talking about it since we were together 2 weeks and we've now been together 8 1/2 months and I suspect the ring is coming very soon (at least that's what he's telling everyone).

time is not the question its weather you really love each other. I knew my husband for a full hour before he said not asked that we would be married and three days later i had a ring six months later we were married and have been now for 24 years and i would not trade him for the world. So don't worry about time. just make sure you really love each other that is what will get you thru the hard times and the good. good luck

You and your boyfriend should both take your time into getting to know each other a little longer, this way you both will know if you are right for each other. Take another year and a half than decide if you both want to get married.

My husband and I got engaged 3 months after we started dating, and got married a year and a half later. You know when the time is right, don't let other people influence what you feel is good for you :) Good luck!

Talk is cheap. If hasn't "popped the question" by now he probably never will. He doesn't seem to be that committed to the relationship.

I don't think that there really is an ideal time to wait before getting married. It really depends on the couple.
