DON'T connect anything to the three reds, connect single red to brown on your light and 2 blacks to the blue on your light, also connect all the earths together. Ensure your light is approved for the zone you are installing it in.

Whatever answers you get, rest assured that this is a perfectly standard 'loop in' wiring system.

Ikea Bathroom Light

As a previous answer says this is a standard UK fitting.

Two of the three red wires form a loop around all your lights, the third goes off to the switch. The return from the switch is the one red you describe as live, (test with an electricians screwdriver, it should only be live if the switch is on, turn off and it will go dead). Connect your brown wire here and the light will switch on an off.

The two black wires are the neutral part of the loop and you need to connect your blue wire to complete the circuit through your light.

Earth wires are usually bundled together, as its a bathroom light it is essential you connect your green/yellow wire to earth.

Remember to turn off the electricity at the fusebox before you start wiring up your light.

Good luck but if in doubt play safe and get someone in.

Where is that guy who is a real electrician and not an impostor when you need him the most? If you don't want to kiss your derriere good by then don't pay attention to the responses to your question. The two black wires together are your feeds. One of them is alive and the other one when twisted together becomes alive and now feeds the switch (brass screw) in the box. The other black is connected to the other screw and to the light. You should have a couple of white wires in there twisted together. Your new light has a black and a white wire. Hook the lonely black to the black and white to white

The simple solution is to connect the one red wire to the brown wire in the light fitting, the two black wires to the blue wire in the light fitting. Ensure that the three red wires that are in the loop are insulated with insulating tape.

Red to Red and Black (neutral) to Black (or some call it the ground wire). Sounds like they had ceiling fans with light kits on them and maybe a dimmer switch.
