i have a German "friend" and i want to impress him on how fast i learned how to speak german. so is there any websites i can go to? i dont really want to get any books because i dont want any one to kno about it. so if anyone can help PLEASE do

start hardcore memorizing.

use the internet to find anything and everything

memorize words contantly, theres no way around it.

it helps to associate german words with english words to help you memerize better,

then once you know enough go to german and your language ability should skyrocket, the more you know before you go to germany the faster the ability will skyrocket once you go to germany

Try the about.com leaning German language site presented by Hyde Flippo. He has lots of links, vocab lists and what you need to learn. Subscribe to the weekly internet bulletin. Try a Google search for it if the link is outdated.
PS It'll take you years to really speak German but you can pick up a few key phrases easily enough.

To help you in leaning German, you should try reading Shakespeare and the King James Version of the Bible. After all, English and German are members of the same language family. German and Elizabethan English (what appears in Shakespeare and the KJV) are remarkably similar.

actually the best way is to take a class where the instructor only speaks german and only allows the students to speak german...thats how i learned spanish...it sounds weird, but it works
