Chicken wing or any bird bones or any part of chicken since a small bird are far too small to give a canine/dog and can get stuck in his throat resulting in serious injury from a blocked airway and yeah the dog will be dead after choking after 15 minutes or puncture an artery in the throat and get dead instantly.

Chicken bones can splinter and cause numerous problems in the digestive tract. If you even suspect your dog might have eaten one you should get your dog to a vet as soon as possible.

Poster above me says raw ones are ok, I know people who feed the raw diet who are still leery of chicken bones but do feed necks as they're good for cleaning teeth.

Hi Cindy a!
Raw Chicken - necks, wings etc. – it is safe and very inexpensive. Raw chicken bones are harmless; it is when you cook them that they become sharp and dangerous. Salmonella and campylobacter jejuni are of no consequence to a healthy dog. You can feed the whole chicken including ribs if you prefer – any part is goodwhich sells for a good price, always raw.(advice from Skansen Kennels)

YES. Chicken bones are to soft for a dog. They splinter when the dog chews on them. The splinters will get caught in their throat and choke them or cut up their digestive tract.

/Cooked/ chicken bones can be very, very dangerous for your dog. Raw chicken bones, however, pose less threat. Most owners who feed raw diets to their dogs routinely feed raw chicken (legs, quarters, thighs, etc). However, chicken wing bones are still not recommended due to their small size.

Once a chicken bone is cooked, however, the bones change their consistancy and can become very dangerous.

So please don't feed your dog the leftovers after you eat a batch of buffalo wings. =)

the bones break into little splinters when they bite down. they can get stuck in the esophagus and cause the dog to choke. they are also quite hard to remove and require a trip to the vet to be removed.

yes they can. They are very brittle bones and can break off and stick into the dogs throat and internal organs. they should not be fed to dogs.

yes! Also any bones that have been boiled. Boiled bones are softened so they splinter easily and can tear the lining of their digestive tract.
