It's great! You can get tickets for almost every show (depending on what's available) for 50% off. There's always a really long line, but it's worth it if you have a few hours. I saw Urinetown and Aida that way and had great seats both times! There's also one downtown. It's under the Marriot Marquis Hotel. Dress warm and have fun.

It offers half price tickets to Broadway shows.

The tickets are only available for the shows on that day. So if you want to see a matinee, you should plan on getting to the line around 10:00AM.

For evening performances, the line opens at 3:00PM, but you can go and line up much earlier than that to get the best selection.

Tickets are first come, first serve, so have at least 2 or 3 shows in mind so that if you first choice is gone, you can easily pick another.

Most important - the TKTS booth only accepts cash and travelers checks!!!!

If you are in the downtown area, there is also a booth at the South Street Seaport and it can have shorter lines than the Times Square booth.

The others have given correct answers, but you should also know that the tickets sold at TKTS are what are unsold by each show's box office. If a show is usually sold out (like Wicked), you won't get tickets at TKTS.

Also, they have off-Broadway shows as well as Broadway.
