I have REALLY pale skin and people say it would look "gothic" although I've been called this with blonde hair. Should I go for it anyway? Would it look really horrible?

I don't always wear dark clothing. I have dyed my hair before a light auburn but its not as dramatic as black and I obviously want to do it or I wouldn't have asked the question.
Thanks for your answers!

Doing a black hair color is a big step and will require a lot of upkeep. Keep in mind that your hair grows about a half inch to three quarters of an inch every month. Do you want to have a wide different color part, and a wide space around your face with your own color? The more color you add, the more damage you will do to your hair with chemicals. You would also need to change make-up colors and clothes colors to look as tho it was your own color. If you just want a shock value, try getting a cheap wig, and see how you would look out in daylight, as well as indoors. Never mind what other people tell you, think about this for yourself. Best wishes

I had a friend who had porcelain skin and pale blue eyes (she resembled Nicole Kidman) who dyed her hair black for several years. It didn't look gothic, just very dramatic.. kind of 1940s Hollywood starlet dramatic. My advice is to do it gradually, meaning to go brunette before taking the plunge to fully black. That way if you don't like it, you can have it corrected without completely stripping your hair. Have fun!

I agree with dyeing it dark brown first. Black hair is beautiful but extreme and not everyone can get away with it. For example, do you have a lot of pink in your skin? If so, black hair will clash. Really pale skin can pull off black hair but not if it's rosy skin.

I would not suggest black .. if you want to go dark. then even the darkest brown would look better than black .. with pale skin i wouldn't necessarily say it is gothic yet it wouldn't flatter you being so pale with black hair.
:) hope this helps!

I say if you want to try it, go for it. Just be prepared that some people aren't accepting of unusual hair. My hair had a reaction to a red dye, and turned PURPLE. Also it is really hard to "undo" black dye.

I say go for it. Black hair is hot. I even like it with blonde roots. Just don't do the skunk look. It was never attractive.

i think you should try dark brown just in case you don't like it. you could dry wearing lighter clothes so you don't look as pale and lighter make-up. then, if you like the dark brown, you could try the black. or if you aren't sure i would do a temporary dye.

If you are not sure about it you should try COLOR PULSE by L'oreal.. It comes off in 8-10 shampoos.. You won't have to keep it if you don't like it
just go to yahoo and search for color pulse.. i don't remeber the extact link to it.. but the page even has suggestions and all that!

people with blonde hair should not dye their hair. We do have more fun. bt from your digital picture thing you might have red hair. don't do it. you are going to look even paler if you dye your hair black.
