The best way to trim your waistline is to start walking at a brisk pace or jogging. If are out of shape try starting with a mile 3-5 times a week. Work your way up a 1/2 mile each week. If you don't know how far a mile is, then walk or jog for at least 20 mins. Remember to keep your pace up, thats what keeps your heartrate up and what causes you to lose wight.
Sit ups will help later on when the fat is gone and your looking into toning.

The answer to this question depends on your physical condition. If you are really trim, and maybe even athletic, you don't have any extra flab. But if you tummy muscles aren't strong, or your posture isn't good, then sometime your tummy sticks out a little. Lots of crunches or sit-ups will help, but don't forget side crunches to work the sides of your waist - the side muscles are what flattens your belly.
But if you're like most people, you've got some extra flab on your tummy, and stomach exercises can only work the muscles on the inside, not the flab on the outside. The way to lose extra fat is to eat better, and exercise better.
To exercise better, you can simply go walking, running, bicycling, or swimming. Work up to 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week. For many people, that alone is enough to drop some of the extra weight.
But you have to watch what you eat, too. Try keeping a food diary. Don't worry about counting every calorie, but write down everything that you take in, including water. Many people don't really notice how much they eat every day or every week, but their tummy will keep track of every soda or big meal for them. Writing everything down keeps you focused on eating right all the time.

well first off, your problem is you DONT do sit ups ot get rid of your belly-gut...thats called spot training and for the most part, that wont work
you need to do cardio, and eat right and clean
your best bet for cardio is something intense with some kind of resistence, although a nice 20 min jog 3-4 times a week wont hurt ya
as far as eating goes, stay away from fast food, junk food, soda, and cut back on calories overall (or at the very least, dont consume a lot)
and REMEMBER, youve spent your whole life building up your gut and belly...so it should take a while for it to go away
the second you get mad because you dont see instant results is when most people quit their plan, and are back at square one
patience is key!!!

I suggest that you try body cleansing. I tried it and really got lean quickly. I lost 15 pounds in 9 days and also 3 inches off my waist. I do body sculpting so getting leaner was my goal. My sister did this program too and she lost a lot of weight quickly. I did not know too much about cleansing but there are a lot of TV commercials about this stuff. This is a body cleanse and not just a colon cleanse, I wanted my body to get lean quickly and this did the trick! Don't drink anything carbinated.. It makes your stomach bloat and be pushed out.
Also my other favorite one is..you take two 5 pound or 10 pound hand weights depending on how much you want to lift. You lay flat on the floor on your back..Suck in your stomach and raise the weights from your stomach area and over your head. It stretches out your stomach muscles nicely. Try to hold for a few seconds while you are fully extened

it's helped me to do crunches & to include cardio. any sort of crunches are good, but i especially see results when i lay on the floor and cross my legs in the air, pulling my lower body up and curling it into my stomach. these are less painful for me as well.
