I'm attending a filipino/jewish wedding in the summer and need to know what is the best way to wear the barong. Is it okay to wear light colored pants and light colored shoes since it's a morning wedding? Or should I wear black pants and black shoes. Thanks!

I'll be a guest. I asked someone close to the couple how formal it would be and was told that a barong tagalog or a suit would be fine. I might just wear a suit.

If the couple said the suit is acceptable, then I would go with the suit. You want to be comfortable and feel like yourself. Your friends should be touched that you were even concerned with this. What a great way to honor and respect your friends heritage on their special day! If you reall want to wear the barong... go right to the source. Ask the bride/groom or parents of, just how to do it.
Light colored pants and shoes are perfect for a morning wedding.

Are you a guest? Then light colored pants and shoes are fine. If you're in the bridal party, ask the groom what he wants you to wear. But I've never seen a barong with black pants and black shoes before.

In depends on the color of the barong, but if it's the classic white translucent pinya make, you should wear black pants and black shoes with it, with a white camisa/camesa de chino (tight white undershirt) underneath.

1. please wear white undershirt underneath, a long-sleeve undershirt is visually pleasing -it may be summer but it looks better in the photograph (do check Google Images and see the difference);
2. please wear clean, freshly ironed black dress pants.
3. please keep accessories to a minimum -a watch and a ring is all that is necessary;
4. please pair it with black dress socks and polished black shoes;
5. please maintain good posture and smile.
