Yes, female cats do spray...

"she may also spray vertical surfaces with a strongly scented fluid. She will accomplish this by backing up to the surface and raising her tail high. The tail may quiver, and she may perfom the rhythmic treading described in step four."

Please confirm this with your veterinarian:

You should be able to have your cat spayed even though she is in heat.

Thank you for doing the responsible thing by properly caring for your cat and preventing the birth of more kittens. While there is nothing cuter than a kitten, there just aren't enough "forever homes" for all of them.

If you don't want her to continue making all that noise then I would suggest waiting until she's finished with her heat before getting her spayed. Cats who've been spayed during their heat have a tendency to keep up the heat-like behaviors even though they don't have the equipment anymore. So, as much of a pain as it is, wait until she's done, then take her. If you rub along her belly area from chest to pelvic region (the area between her back legs) in a gentle massaging motion it should help ease her discomfort. Granted, that suggestion relies on her willingness to lie still for you to do so!

I help with stray and feral cat rescue and the Vet we use spays and neuters at two months, so your cat is more then old enough to be spayed.

A cat can be spayed while it's in heat...but most Vets charge more to do it at that time.
If you don't want to spend the extra money right now make sure to keep her inside and away from any unneutered males until she's out of heat then make an appointment to have her spayed ASAP.

Good luck!

You can get them "fixed" while in heat, although it may be a bit more expensive due to the fact that while in heat makes the surgery a little more complex. The sooner, the better....you and the cat will definitely be much better off. Call around to your local animal hospitals and ask them to give you a quote. Also, in most states you can purchase reduced certificates, you will still most likely be charged the additional fee since she is in heat. Good luck!

Yes, cats can be spayed while they are in heat, but the vet will charge you more because there will be more blood in the ovaries and it's messier.
It's best you find the time NOW before her spraying becomes less of a statement and more of a habit.

You were right on track thinking about getting her spayed at 6 mo. You can have her spayed at any time now. If you choose to have her spayed during her heat, expect to pay a premium! I'm sure that after surviving her first heat you'll "get the time" to take her in!

Are yo sure your kitty is not a male? look at her private area and if its a dot its a boy the girls have a slit. If she is a girl then it is ok to have her spayed. when they go in heat they tend to meow alot and rub there belly on the floor with there butts in the air. They quit all that when they are fix. I hope this helps some.

Get her fixed now, 6 months is perfect. My cat was in heat when I had her fixed and it cost an extra $15.00.

Yes, you can get her fixed while she is in heat. In fact, it is preferable to do so now. The likelihood of your cat getting pregnant once it is in heat increases drastically. Her age is also a great time to do it!
