Ok So I've been dating my boyfriend Off and On for about 3 years now. Of these three years we've only been on a handful of dates. He refuses to take me to the movies. He often promises to take me out, but when the time comes he's "too tired" or "doesnt want to drive" or "low on money". Well I'm sure you response to the above information would be "why dont you take the inicitive?"
The last time we went to a movie was may of 2006 (my birthday) to see Xmen3. I drove in my car. I paid for dinner at an expensive chinese resurant. I paid for the movie. I paid for drinks.....After the movie he says "I really wish I hadn't of seen that" and continues to complain the entire (hour long) ride home....
Recently we were discussing wanting to see ghost rider.....he went with his brother.
When I asked why he could go with his brother and not me he said "because he paid and drove" WHAT?!?!
Yet again he has promised to go with me this weekend...I'm not going to get my hopes up.

you need to get out of this relationship unless you will always satisfied with not getting anything in return. he is a loser. what a boring future to know you will never go anywhere or do anything unless you pay for it all.

Sounds like we're in the same boat! All my (ex)boyfriend of 3 years wanted to do was sit there! He would NOT take me out! And he had money, he just spent it on....other things. Everytime we ate it was at MY expense! It's hard, but I needed a change. I just couldn't deal with it anymore. And now he would do anything to get me back. Try it...if it's like my relationship, he'll come around. Good luck. You need a guy who will wait on you hand and foot, or at least pay for dinner and a movie!

Oh HECK NO....Playing or not, that was just wrong of your boyfriend to go there. I believe in paying half of the time but he could've offered to pay for the drinks and maybe the movie. It's about give and take and it seems like all he wants to do is take take and take some more. There's no giving that I've seen and based on his response as to why he saw Ghostrider without you, he won't be giving any time soon. Time to dump the loser and move on. Good luck !!!!

Of course he's a jerk and a deadbeat too. You should find someone that will take you out and pay as well. Maybe not all the time because we are in 2007 but sometimes or at least split the money. Please dump him for good obviously there is not future with this guy. My bf and I live together and for living expenses my pay half each. but when we go out he always pays for me.

i didn't even feel the need to read beyond the first paragraph to tell you that this guy is not worth your time, your money, your energy, or even your attention. please think about yourself and how you really want your man to treat you because i am sure that this is not the way want to be treated. if you're dating and he's acting like this, all the more that he's going to treat you like a doormat when you get married (or it might not even get there if he finds a better doormat than you). im sorry if im a bit harsh but i just don't know why how you can last that long with a person who will treat you that way. i think you have to learn to love and respect yourself first before you can expect others to love and respect you.

Men can be selfish and not even realize it, even when they are that that obvious. Yes, he is being a jerk...
I would suggest you leave him. A relationship of "on and off" over a three year time period is too long. Date people! Have fun! Someday you will be married and go on less dates than you do now!

I don't think this guy deserves you. If all it takes is dinner and a movie to make you happy, it should be easy. I think he may have "other irons in the fire" and being seen out with you may cause him some problems. If he doesn't like to go out with you but rather his brother or only goes with whoever drives or pays, MAKE HIM WALK

Yes, he is a jerk. If you are polite enough to cover an evening out and he shows no respect and complains about things, that's rude and immature. He can't go out with you because of lack of funds and won't do anything to fix that. I wouldn't even go as far as the front yard to talk to him anymore. You deserve better.

No offense to u but he appears to be a cheap skate....... I may be a lil old fashioned but it should make a man feel uncomfortable to have his woman foot the bill. Let alone changin plans with you to go to the movies with his brother STRICTLY because its free. So to answer your question......YES he is a jerk and a cheapskate. U may want to find a man who has a lil more financial stablity and NO lame excuses..........good luck!!!
