Interesting concept. It serves as a great reminder that we don't know everything and should always challenge our assumptions.
While I don't doubt that Jesus' remains may be lying around somewhere, or even that this COULD be his tomb, I didn't find the evidence presented as particularly compelling. I don't think it would ever be possible to prove that any particular tomb belonged to THE Jesus.

I thought it was interesting that the archaeologist on the Diane Reihm show on the radio yesterday could only come up with non-arguments and false accusations as to why the discovery should not be taken seriously, while the reporter was the one with the rational arguments and defenses.
I think so much self-serving myth has been added to the story over the millennia that's it hard to know what the true nature of Christ's ministry, divinity and ascension really is. The truth may be more miraculous than the fiction we've been fed by the church. The existence of Jesus's bones or even of progeny take nothing away from His message, and the message is the ministry.

1. Almost nobody does think it's the lost tomb of Jesus. For one thing, it keeps getting "discovered" over and over, so we've all been down this road since 1980, with the exact same "tomb," which is actually an ossuary.
2. Then there's the problem that there's nobody in it, and even if there were, nobody has any DNA lying around from the year zero to match it to. That means there is absolutely no way to prove it.
3. Archaeologists who have worked this find before (some of whom are atheists) say it's a bunch of junk being hyped for money.
4. The same people on Y/A who are hyping it are the ones who claim they only base their views on hard science. Yeah, right, LOL

I think it is the sarcophagas of a Jesus but not The Jesus.. Jesus being a very common name at the time also Mary and Joseph were extremely common names at the time, they didn't have many names back then to choose from so it's not even a big coincidence to find all these names in close proximity. I think nothing much of it.

If you watched the program after the documentary, the archeologists and Christian theologians both made great points of why this thing is so far from being anything factual at this point, and also showed many reasons why its false.
I think its false because of my faith, but I don't think it matters either way to most Christians.
The anti-Christians are going to believe it no matter what just because it supports there cause.
Either way, it won't make a difference.

I think it brings up some interesting ideas, but I feel like more research is needed. I agree with both sides of the argument but I think that we need to search deeper into this subject. The arguments are compelling though. But only time will tell.
* Hey Pepsiolic....They don't have the actual bones..just fragments. The real bones were buried a long long time ago according to Jewish Custom and traditions.

No one knows who's tomb it is...It can not be proved that it was the tomb of Christ..First off,we have no Jesus DNA sitting around the lab to compare it to.It is just another controversial piece of information that is set out to misinform everyone.

Christian, completly false if they were Jesus's bones they would be in his hometown of Galilea or Bethlahem, furthermore at that time only the rich could afford a burial place like that.

I'll say what I said to one of the hundreds of previous questions about this show:
"I'm an atheist, myself, and even I personally find it odd that they didn't any dating tests to find out whether or not any of these remains were old enough to be any of the people they suspect. That would be the first test I would do, why wasn't it theirs?"
