yes. Gastic Bypass is a PDQ with no chance of a waiver. gastric banding, you would have to have the Band removed and wait a full year with no problems before you could see about getting a waiver.

The reason is that in a situation with a reduced availability of food, you need as much absorption area as possible for the nutrients, and the stomach surgeries limit that absorption area causing a soldier to starve to death on rations which would have (barely) supported him.

Ive never heard of that, and I doubt it. Maybe for certain MOS/Rates but certainly not the Military in general.
