Who is the AntiChrist?

Seriously. Who is or was the anti-Christ? Some say Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, or maybe even Saddam. Personally I don't think the anti-Christ has come yet. But he will.

We will not know until the Holy Spirit enables his identity to be known. 1 Thes. 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

In response to "KAREN," 1 John 2:18 says: "... and as you have heard that THE [singular] Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour." While John clearly taught there are many who have the spirit of the antichrist, there will come a time when THE Antichrist will come. Read Daniel 9:26-27; he's the "prince who is to come." All refrences to the anti-Christ, and ther eare only 4 in the bible, were writtnen by the Apostle John. From the Bible we can clearly see 3 things. First, the "antichrist" is defined as anyone who doesn't believe Jesus is the divine son of God. Second, "antichrists" appear to actively teach against Christ. Third, there were many "antichrists" in the world when John wrote the book. This directly contradicts the teaching of modern speculationists who say that one antichrist will arise at some still future time.

Definition of Anti-Christ is anyone that goes against the teachings of Jesus. This is a general statement that would apply to millions of people worldwide.
Now, if you're referring to who is the great Anti-Christ that's predicted in Revelations, then at the moment no one really knows. There are some scriptures that predict certain events to come that will prelude the arrival of this Anti-Christ. Basically putting it, things will get pretty bad worldwide, then this Anti-Christ will appear on the world scene and take care of the worlds problems, to the point that people will think he was a god send. Most likely a one world government will be established in his order, but underlying this so called miracle will be many problems, especially the persecution of Christians and Jews.
I can go on and on, but that will take too long. We'll assume it's a man, but maybe it could be some kind of super computer....kind of like that old movie, "The Forban Project" where this computer takes over the world. We'll have to wait and see.

This is very speculative....

He's going to be very convincing, persuasive, and his words will go down like Florida Orange Juice, so nice, so appealing, so right. He will have wonderful-sounding solutions for problems like the Israel/Palestine one. Most people will be deceived until its too late. Christians should be able to discern that he's not genuine. He's going to set himself up as a kind of Christ.

Could he try to be some universalist religion figure - ie be the Mahdi of the Shiites and Messiah of christians and Jews, and Meitreya of the Buddhists?

Nobody on earth knows who the Anti Christ is or even if he has come here yet. There are plenty of anti Christs (anybody who opposes Jesus), but only one Anti Christ, and he has not made it known who he is.
