did god have to fail a couple of times at getting things straightened out before he hit on the idea of sacrificing himself to himself?

It does seem that way after you read the Bible. The perfect solution would be for God to have made a tree of ignorance in the garden and told Adam to eat from it.

Before the God of Abraham could think of having Jesus, the Egyptians had to have the Osiris-Isis gods, the Indians had to have Buddha, and the Greeks needed to provide Dionysius so that the gospel writers and Paul of Tarsus would have content for their version of age-old myths.

Since the story of Adam and Eve was finalized in the first century AD, you do have a good point, though.

You bring up a great point, one that I have always wondered about!

The thing is, if you read the Old Testament it would seem as if Christ dying for our sins was the plan all along, just as well his second coming is planned.

So, according to your question he has failed again since Christ must return again.

I'm thinking that this is a question for a real theologian, not just a bunch of smucks on yahoo.

Adam and Eve are the excuse Christians use for everything. Whenever something bad happens they say "Oh humanity brought it on itself when Adam and eve ate the forbidden fruit". Load of rubbish. Eff off Christians.

The story of Adam and Eve is fiction. The genetic evidence is conclusive.

Technically, he did.

If Adam and Eve are suposed to be the first two humans, and we all came from them, then Mary would come from them as well, making Jesus come from them, AS WELL
