The best way is to look for other items such as yours on eBay and look to charge the same amount or thereabouts. It would be wise to check Royal mail to be certain. Why not charge a lot like most other eBayers because then you pay less in commission to eBay when you sell the item!

hi, firstly ebay has policies so you shouldn't just follow what others do without knowing what you are doing.
according to ebay's policy you should charge actual shipping cost and cost for wrapping/handling. they give some examples of what is and isn't allowed. do a search in the help section on excessive shipping policy.
if by insurance you are refering to recorded delivery. it costs an additional 68p and ofcourse there are more expensive options but nobody on ebay what postage that costs more than the item. its actually on the postoffice website and searching on the website for insuance or recorded delivery will give you the options available
