Most of the answers listed are correct for the place (city or state) that they live. I lived in New Jersey and I had to go to the police station to get a license -- for a BB gun, hah. I lived in Oklahoma and I walked out with a gun and no paperwork at all. Now most dealers will do a quick background check. But some states still have more red tape to make it harder to exercise your second amendment rights.
If you are over 21, take the time to get a concealed weapons permit if they are allowed in your state.
A traffic ticket is no problem, only felony convictions.

Depends on where you live but normally all you need is to not have any felonies (paid traffic tickets don't count), be a citizen, have proper ID or driver's license, be an adult and have the asking price for the shotgun. Again, depending on where you live there'll be a background check that could take ten minutes or ten days.
Take your gun safety course (if required by your State of residence) and never point your gun at anything you are not willing to destroy. Remember, drywall doesn't stop buckshot/slugs very well. Good luck.

It is dependent on where you live. Traffic tickets would not prevent you from owning a firearm the only real limitations are violent felony or misdemeanour charges or mental illness, a legal U.S. Citizen and provided you are at least 18 years of age or older. In the state of Connecticut you can undergo a 14 day waiting period background check, or complete the CE/FS (Conservative Education and Firearm Safety) course. This in turn allows you to get a hunting licence which in turn will allow you to buy shotguns/rifles the same day. CT does have a loophole in which private gun sales from owner to buyer may take place with a printable form, although this issue is under constant debate it is still legal.

Unless you live in California, you can walk into Wal-Mart or a sporting good store, pick out a shotgun, and be out in about 30 minutes. You don't need a license and unless you are an illegal immigrant or have a felony arrest, you are okay.
I suggest you consider a pump shotgun. I live in NC. You can get a Mossberg Maverick 12 gauge at Wal-Mart for $170, a Mossberg 500 for $200, and a Remington 870 Express for about $275.
If you live in Illinois, NJ, or some other states you must have a firearms owner idenfitication card, which you can apply for. If you live in the South (God Bless Us), then you are generally okay.

Depends on where you live. Some places require a permit, most don't. If you've never been convicted of a felony or some misdemeanors and are over 18 purchasing a shotgun is perfectly legal.

depends on the state, in Iowa as long as you are over 18, not a felon, not dishonorably charged from teh military and are not a felon anyone can walk into a gun store and buy a long gun and walk out about 10 minutes later. Hand guns are different though, you must get a background check and wait three days before you can actually pick up the gun.

Walk into a sporting goods store, ask for Remington 870 Tactical. Fill out the forms, salesmen calls in for background. If all goes quick, you have a new shotgun in 20 minutes.

The laws pertaining to firearms purchase, possession, and transport vary from state to state.
You will have to, at the very least pass an "instant" background check.
However civil traffic violations will not hinder this in any way.
You should consult www.packing.org, it is geared towards handguns, but will have legal information regarding "long-guns" for your state as well.
You can also look at the web page for your state as well to deterimine what you need to do.(or call your local police department)
Be safe, remember to treat any firearm as loaded, regardless of wether or not you know it to be.

As long as you're over 18, you haven't been convicted of a felony, you don't have any outstanding warrants for your arrest, and you haven't been dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces, you can buy a shotgun with no problem.

yes it is legal, and if you don't have the gun loaded. A full carry permit is requierd if you have the shotgun loaded in your car. If a cop pulls you over and you have the gun loaded with out a permit they will put you in jail.
